Nest Protect – The second generation announced

The second generation of Nest Protect was announced by the brand last night at its press conference. A lot of news for this smart health connected smoke and carbon monoxide detector.

Nest Protect will therefore be enriched with additional sensors to better detect slow and fast burning fires. Nest uses the Split-Spectrum sensor to improve its smart detector, for example; it has two sensors to detect different sizes of smoke particles.

New features have also been announced at the app level with App Silence. This will allow you to silence your smoke alarm from your phone in the event of a false alarm.

The new Nest Protect has a microphone and a speaker. The brand’s goal is to go beyond industry standards. This new version is also eleven percent thinner than the previous one. It will be offered at a price of $ 99.

At the same time, the Nest Learning thermostat will also be improved. For example, if the detector detects carbon monoxide, it may ask your Nest Learning thermostat to turn off your heating. The same applies to the smoke and may request that the ventilation be turned off so as not to circulate the smoke. Notifications will be sent in case of abnormal temperatures.

Finally, Nest Protect will be able to Review itself so that you know it’s working properly. In fact, many fires go undetected because the smoke detectors do not work properly.
