New Nest Thermostat is here!

The new Nest Thermostat is here! After updating its smoke detector and launching the Nest Cam, the company decided to update the device that made it known.

The new Nest Thermostat has a slightly thinner profile, larger screen and better resolution. Apart from that, the design remains the same: it is always round with the screen in the center. To be precise, the screen is apparently 40 percent larger at a diameter of 2.5 inches with a resolution of 229 pixels per inch; 25 percent more than the latest model. This is the third generation Nest Thermostat.

This large flat screen and higher resolution are really the two things to remember, but the new Nest Thermostat also has more features. With its display now readable across a room, it will start up as soon as it detects that you are in the area. It can be configured to show you the target temperature of the house or just a clock. Aside from the display, the thermostat can now detect device overheating issues; for an oven this would indicate that it needs an overhaul. This new feature will also be available for older Nest thermostats with a software update later this year.

As with previous models, Nest says purchasing a thermostat will save you money in the long run by cutting heating costs by 10 percent and 15 percent for air conditioning. The new Nest Thermostat is on sale today on the brand's website and on Amazon, but only in the U.S. right now, priced at $ 249. The old model is still on sale for $ 199.
