Nike & Apple hand in hand in the wearable market?

Since the Nike + iPod activity tracker in 2006, relations between Cupertino and the famous Swoosh brand have been constantly improving. We especially remember Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, who last April said he was excited about the partnership on Wearables with Apple on CNBC.

Without disclosing more information, Parker further fueled the rumor of a new partnership on BloomBerg TV by assuring that "Technologically, (Apple & Nike) can do things together that they wouldn't be able to launch independently." He adds that their plan is to extend the digital frontier in terms of wearables and, starting from the current 10 million (Nike +) users, reach their goal of 100 million followers.

We do not yet know exactly what form this new partnership will take, however we do know that Nike has started to phase out its peripherals from the market in favor of the Apple Watch presented at the KeyNote last September. The Apple firm has not abandoned its partner since the running app from Nike was presented as compatible during the launch of its Apple Watch. The Beaverton multinational announced recently that it was working to make its NikeFuel platform compatible with HealthKit, as you might expect knowing that Tim Cook sits on the Nike board of directors.

However, the brand may have a new device in the starting blocks. Parker said the wearables were destined to become "a big part of the future" in the next few years, but that their appearance was crucial. Indeed, he "thinks the form they take is their critical point. You can start from a very geeky appearance to what you can imagine in the future; more stealthy, more discreet, more elegant and more functional ”

Does "more elegant and more functional" refer to the Apple Watch or should we expect something completely new? You just have to wait to find out, but what is certain is that the Apple / Nike partnership is far from over.
