The Nixon Mission is a smart health connected watch for athletes. Its polycarbonate case is very thick and its strap is either silicone or metal depending on the model. It incorporates a 3.53 cm AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 x 400, a Snapdragon Wear 2100 all running Android Wear OS. Water resistant, GPS, shock and pressure resistant, be prepared for anything!

Ergonomics of the Nixon Mission

Once put on the wrist, the Nixon Mission is imposing, it is a certainty. Its weight of 300g will nevertheless not be too felt if you have muscular arms!

Despite its weight, the Nixon Mission watch is comfortable to wear. Thanks to the silicone strap and the clasp it fits well on the wrist. The screen is large enough, reacts well even underwater and makes use easy.

Characteristics

The finishes are clean (at this price we hope). The 23mm wide silicone (or metal) strap is thick and looks solid. The clasp is Ardillon type. This watch is pleasant to wear but it takes up space on the wrist with its 48mm diameter case and 13mm thickness! Its dial is made of stainless steel and its Corning Gorilla Glass makes it beautiful and resistant.

The Nixon Mission has a resistance of 10 ATM and can therefore be worn for swimming or diving in shallow water.

One of the particularities of this watch is that it has a microphone on the left side. Why is this special? This is particular because this kind of watch generally cannot offer a microphone due to the conditions to which it will be subjected. But our friends at Nixon have patented a waterproof microphone thanks to their technology MicLock which protects the microphone during dives or other!

Once the watch is on (by pressing and holding the side button) the Mission starts. You must first download Android Wear OS in order to be able to connect the watch to your phone.

Once the watch is smart health connected, the various features of it are available. This watch only has one side button that will allow you to return to the health home menu or view applications.

The screen is large and perfectly readable and accessible for use. Once the MicLock unlocked, you can interact with the watch via voice commands.

The GPS is easy to use and optimized, but a little too long to load and not necessarily very precise at times.

Controlling music via Google Play works wonderfully, which will be fun enough to pause or change music directly from your wrist!

The main drawback of this watch is the battery, which is far too low for everyday use. With Bluetooth, Wifi and other features, the watch is discharged in just a day. It must therefore be recharged every evening, which is not very pleasant.

Changing the battery can be done, but finding the right battery to change is a headache. (Chinese 400mAh battery)

The charging connections on the back of the watch deteriorate due to sweating over time.

Nixon’s partnership with the Trace brand offers this watch two applications, Trace Snow and Trace Surf. These applications make it possible to collect information on the current Snow or Surf sessions via a sensor attached to the boards.

Conclusion

The Nixon watch is very powerful thanks to these multiple functions and its robust design. It is very suitable for any type of athlete whether on land or at sea, the screen is pleasant (even for big fingers) and reacts well to the touch. The watch presents some slowdowns on certain actions, but nothing annoying.

The main negative point is the battery which should have been of better quality and more substantial, because the watch consumes energy.

You still have to pay 377 € for this watch, which is not nothing either. Extreme sports enthusiasts can use it without fear of breaking it at the slightest fall.
