Omron presented at CES 2016 in Las Vegas a smart health connected blood pressure monitoring that looks more like a big smartwatch than a medical device.

Omron Healthcare therefore wants to allow us to know our blood pressure without having to trudge to the clinic or hospital. The company, known for its BPM monitors, presented another device on the CES. What they have in common: a completely different look from that of their competitors. We’ll take a closer look at how they’re used.

The brand's two new devices, dubbed "Project Zero" monitors, can take measurements without the supervision of a doctor. The first is a standard blood pressure monitoring with a tiny screen. The second, much more interesting, is the one you can see in the photo. These types of devices are not new, but the innovation comes more from form and design.

Measuring wrist blood pressure is a delicate operation. Your arm must be in the correct position to get an accurate reading. This is the reason why most doctors recommend taking measurements from the upper arm. However, Omron says its products are simple to use. The sensors placed in the device make it possible to understand how you hold your arm and inform you if you need to change position. Once your arm is at heart level, the gadget begins to analyze it.

All other Omron devices are approved products by the FDA. If these devices have not yet received regulatory approval, Omron says they meet the standards. These products could be useful tools for people with hypertension. Project Zero devices are expected to hit the market by the end of 2016 and will cost around $ 200.
