Oppo takes inspiration from Apple Watch for its new smart health connected watch, like an air of deja vu

Oppo has just unveiled the design of its future smart health connected watch through its vice president. The smartwatch looks very familiar. And for good reason, the resemblance to the Apple Watch is quite obvious. Rectangular dial, curved screen and even the laces are reminiscent of the silicone bracelets of Apple smart watches.

The Oppo Find X 2 is not the only product of the brand expected at MWC 2020. It is also preparing to launch its first smart health connected watch. Several days before the opening of the Barcelona fair, the design of the smartwatch has just been revealed on the Weibo social network by the brand's vice president, Brian Shen. Oppo has chosen to bet on a rectangular format and a metal finish in terms of the chassis. The watch looks very similar to the Apple Watch, as the two look similar.

But on closer inspection, there are several distinctive points. First, in place of the Apple Watch side crown, Oppo’s smartwatch has two physical buttons on the side. In addition, its “flexible screen” as presented by the vice-president of the brand is much more curved around the edges. These details put aside, everything else strongly reminds of the smart health connected watches of the Cupertino company and in particular the silicone bracelet that goes with it.

For the time being, Oppo has not released any technical details on its smart health connected watch. The suspense therefore remains whole on this aspect. We do not know which system will animate the smartwatch, but according to the latest leaks on this subject, the manufacturer should, except for surprise, bet on WearOS like the Xiaomi Mi Watch of the Chinese competitor unveiled a few weeks ago.
