After a difficult fundraising campaign, Owlet (which produces the smart baby sock) has just raised $ 1.85M from American VCs.

All is well that ends well… That could be the slogan of the American start-up Owlet Baby Care who just secured $ 1.85 million in a fundraiser with ff Venture Capital and Eniac Ventures. After being rejected by Kickstarter in 2013 for its project of smart baby sock, he nevertheless managed to raise $ 100,000 on his own site on his own.

Owlet, the life saving sock

Owlet app

Owlet is a smart health connected sock from blue or pink color whose objective is to reassure parents above all: from a smartphone (iPhone, Android application, and even the internet) itself smart health connected by Bluetooth 4.0 with socks, they can follow their baby's heart and respiratory rate just like the temperature or his sleep (it was on a bad experience – sudden death of an infant – in the entourage of the founder of Owlet that the idea was born). It should also help parents with baby health issues like bradycardia or sleep apnea. On the technical side, the sock recharges via a micro USB port and has an autonomy of 2 days. Hygiene is extremely important in newborns, Owlet is completely washable.

After a first delivery series in autumn 2013, the new series should be available for summer 2014. It is possible to pre-order it directly on the official Owlet website at a price of $ 250, or € 180 (+ $ 10 international delivery costs).
