Paige raises $ 45 million to detect cancer with computer vision

The start-up Paige raised $ 45 million, on December 18, 2019, to develop its tools for understanding cancer using computer vision. Healthcare Venture Partners, Breyer Capital and Kenan Turnacioglu were the three main contributors to this series B fundraising. Paige's capital thus increased to more than $ 70 million.

The fundraising should therefore allow Paige to develop these tools and seek authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for future marketing. HealthTech also intends to accelerate its commercial efforts in United States and its expansion in Canada, Brazil and in Europe.

Detecting cancer biomarkers

Launched discreetly in 2018, the young American shoot specializes in machine learning to better map cancer in order to understand its origin and how it works. Its platform makes it possible in particular to detect the biomarkers of the disease.

In early December 2019, Swedish Philips took part in this project by announcing its intention to make this new solution available to European pathology laboratories in 2020.

Revolutionary device by the FDA

Paige was born inside Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer, one of the largest institutions in the world, which treats patients and works on cancer therapies. In March 2019, the young shoot takes a new turn. The FDA gives it the "Breakthrough Device Designation" label.

This status means that the system developed by Paige is promising enough to be given priority in terms of review and approval procedures.
