Perfect sleep with a lot of sense and reason

Senseless: Bad sleep

The Internet of Things is a synonym for endless possibilities – day after day new ideas, technical innovations and sometimes curiosities come onto the market. Our society often dives from one appointment to another, accompanied by constant stress and little sleep. But sleeping in the rush hour of life is one of the most precious moments of relaxation for our body and well-being. The reason for a restless sleep is not necessarily due to a personal problem – other circumstances also play a role, such as the temperature of the bedroom or personal body functions such as your own respiratory rate.

That's exactly what Samsung wants to do and make sure that sleep improves with SLEEPsense. The flat, just under a centimeter thick sensor is pushed under the pillow and checked overnight on respiratory rate, heart rate, the number of revolutions when rolling back and forth in bed and the sleep time of the subject. The environment is also scrutinized – the room temperature and the air quality recorded by the sensor stores the data.

SLEEPsense: Good sleep

Subsequently, the data will be sent to the necessary smartphone app. It shows a listing of all this data the next morning and indicates whether sleep was statistically good or bad. According to the manufacturer, the accuracy and reliability of the device is 97 percent. With the detailed sleep analysis, the user also receives valuable information on how he can approach, improve or even avoid any abnormalities. The sleep sensor can also "intervene" directly and bring about the perfect sleep independently – by networking it in the smart health home with other devices. As soon as the user has fallen asleep and the sensor measures this according to the specific parameters, for example, light or television switches off. The SLEEPsense sensor acts as a sleep counselor and a caring companion – always with the goal of supporting perfect sleep. Samsung is taking the step towards medical wearables – in addition to gadgets and amenities, the SLEEPsense sensor is a tool that can enhance our well-being in terms of health.
