If there is one thing that is sorely lacking at Philips Hue, it is a switch in French format! A remote control with stand has been available for a very long time, but in US format, which prevented it from being placed over an existing switch, except when passing through a sometimes unsightly adapter. Good news, Philips Hue unveiled a wireless switch in French format a few weeks ago, which can finally be positioned to replace our traditional switches: the Philips Hue Smart Button. "Smart", because in addition to being smart health connected, it embeds well thought out intelligent functions!

I. Unpacking the Philips Hue Smart Button

This new button is presented in a packaging faithful to the brand, which leaves no doubt about its compatibility. Inside, we find the switch, a small metal support, and a manual.

This Philips Hue Smart Button has a very classic appearance: a white plate, 7.5cm wide, with a round button in the center:

But the originality is that the central button is magnetic: it can therefore be removed from the board to be used as a remote control where you want, a little like the SmartPebble that Awox had done.

The button itself is very small. But it is he who carries all the electronics, the plate being only a plastic support. Like the first long remote control, this intelligent button works on battery (autonomy 2 years) and communicates in ZigBee.

This plate can be glued using the double-sided already in place, or screwed to the wall via the notches provided:

Note that a small round, metallic support is also delivered, allowing the Smart Button to be "stuck" anywhere: on the door of a fridge for example, but also any place, even non-metallic, in simply sticking this small round base to it. We will see a more concrete example later…
