Presentation of the Raspberry Pi Zero W
The "W" of Raspberry Pi Zero W is for “wireless” because it integrates WiFi 802.11 n as well as Bluetooth 4.1 thanks to a CYW43438 chip, the same reference as that used for the Raspberry Pi 3.
For the rest of the features, nothing changes. The Raspberry Pi Zero W takes the specifications of its big sister. We find a 1 core processor, clocked at 1GHz with its 512MB of RAM.
There is a mini-USB power supply as well as a mini-USB port dedicated to external devices (keys, keyboards, etc.). There is also an HDMI port for ehealth, as well as a connector for the camera and the possibility of soldering GPIOs.
Like its predecessors, it retains all its interest in the emulation of retro games and the media center.
Thanks to its very compact size we now have the possibility of integrating it directly into a housing. For example to make a very stylish game boy game station.
Likewise for the media center, we can imagine integrating it into the TV stand. To this we add a micro-SD card, a micro-USB charger, a micro-HDMI cord and here we are with a real smart health connected TV.
An official box
The foundation also offers an official case for around 6 euros, incorporating the aesthetic codes of its predecessors. Three variants are available: a full version, a version with an opening for the official photo / ehealth sensor, and a version with an opening giving access to the GPIO pins.
The price
Our official reseller for France Kubii propose the Raspberry Pi Zero W, at the price of 11 €. several kits are also available around 30 €.
It is a good start and for a reasonable price to start with a Raspberry Pi Zero W. You just have to take action.
