PREVENT EARLY SKIN AGING | FOREVER 39

[ad_1]

You should know by now that your skin ages faster due to UV-A and B radiation. But did you also know that wrinkles are more likely to arise due to other forms of radiation, namely infrared and blue light? I tested a product that protects your face from this radiation. It concerns Sunforgettable Total Protection Face shield from Colorescience. Read my findings here.

Skin aging

UV-A and B radiation are the usual suspects when it comes to skin aging. If all goes well, you should also apply a cream with an SPF every day that helps against these forms of radiation. But did you know that this is not the only radiation that negatively affects your skin? There is also such a thing as blue light, aka HEV. That is light that also comes from the sun, but also comes from your screens. Yes, also ‘as we speak’ the blue light tries to attack your collagen. Shocking right? The same goes for infrared, which is also largely caused by the sun. And do you live in (near) a big city? You can count on your skin to deteriorate prematurely due to all the pollution. In short, with only a UV-A and B filter you are not there….

Sunforgettable Colorescience

Colorescience is an American brand. It has created a progressive product that not only helps against different types of radiation (including blue light and infrared), but is also free of chemical filters. It’s about -do you have a moment- Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield. This cream contains an SPF 50 and is waterproof for 40 minutes. It also contains antioxidants. The cream has been awarded a Beauty O-WARD 2018, the beauty awards presented annually by Oprah Winfrey’s O magazine. So it all sounds good!

Special Ingredients Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield

Which ingredients ensure that the Face Shield protects against skin aging so well? See below for a summary.

  • Niacinamide: a substance I am a big fan of and should be lubricated by everyone. It softens the skin, supports the skin’s barrier function and balances sebum production. See the previous article I wrote about Niacinamide.

  • Bisabolol: a chamomile extract that soothes and conditions the skin

  • Infra Guard: Protects the skin from the aging effects of infrared radiation (IR).

  • Lipochroman®: a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent skin aging due to pollution and other harmful factors.

  • Iron Oxides: These protect against blue light aka HEV light.

  • Vital ET: a form of vitamin E that protects and softens the skin.

  • Phytomoist: a real hyaluronic acid tiger. It contains natural, vegetable hyaluronic acid and betaine

So what’s not in it?

There are a number of usual suspects that you would rather not want on your skin. The Face shield scores well in this area. For example, none of this is included:

My experience with Sunforgettable Colorescience

Now what do I think of this promising protector? The stuff spreads easily and absorbs quickly. It doesn’t make you white. Furthermore, you do not suffer from it, as is often the case with mineral filters that you really feel (and see) on your skin. It also helps in any case to protect against sunburn, as I have experienced myself in sunny Sardinia. Whether it also works against pollution, blue light and infrared is more difficult to gauge. After all, the consequences of this are difficult to measure because they cannot be read directly on your face. I’m just relying on the manufacturer’s claim that it really helps against these external factors. Colorescience uses the mineral zinc (12%) for protection and not chemical filters. It also contains no drying alcohol. It is also nice that it also contains antioxidants. What I find less successful is the abundant use of silicones in the product. These can close off your skin, which can cause imperfections.

Buy Sunforgettable

Would you like to try the Sunforgettable from Colorescience yourself? This is available for 43.50 euros for a 55 ml bottle (which, according to the manufacturer, can last you 90 days). For the sales addresses, see the Colorescience.nl site. There is also a variant for the protection of your body (41.94 euros).

Finally

I am convinced that it is not only necessary to protect your skin against UV-A and B, but also protection against blue light and infrared is necessary to prevent premature aging. Colerescience’s Faceshield is a progressive product that meets this need. It’s great that the ingredients have been carefully thought out, so that you don’t damage your skin unnecessarily. I do find the excessive use of silicones to be a concern, so I hope they do something about this in the future. But as far as I’m concerned, the cream is the best product currently available for complete protection of your skin.
