Prudensee: smart health connected glasses on sale at Optic 2000

After 3 years of development and 4 million euros of investment, the smart health connected glasses Prudensee to prevent drowsy driving are now on sale.

Sleep day this 22nd of March. Chain Optic 2000 (1,200 brands) took the opportunity to formalize the launch in France of Prudensee, its smart health connected glasses to fight against sleep while driving. Developed in partnership with the start-up Nice Ellcie Healthy, their purpose is to reduce accidentology by car. They required 3 years of development and 4 million euros of investment. In France, one fatal accident in four is due to drowsiness. According to Optic 2000, it's as much as alcohol, drugs or drugs.

In appearance, Prudensee glasses have all "classic" glasses. In cellulose acetate, they are light: 23 g, against 25 to 35 g most often. The front of their mount is however thicker. On both sides are housed 15 sensors, including sensors for temperature, light, pressure, an infrared sensor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a humidity sensor, a touch zone, a buzzer, RGB LEDs. , a battery. Not to mention a chip that, according to Ellcie Healthy, will perform millions of calculations to confront the problems of the driver.

The glasses therefore analyze a large number of parameters that allow them to determine whether or not the driver is in a period of drowsiness. In addition to the zero level, five levels of drowsiness were graduated. When one of them is reached or exceeded, the glasses beep, while leds are illuminated in red in front of the eyes of the driver. Impossible not to regain his spirits.

If the glasses can operate independently, an application can, if desired, record the data relating to falling asleep (as well as mileage data, driving time …). The application also allows access to a histogram, and to better understand its behavior on the routes made. According to Optic 2000, the first signs of a driver falling asleep occur after 2 hours and 12 minutes, and even 1 hour and 4 minutes for those under 35 years of age.

These histograms thus have a teaching function and can invite a subject to modify his behavior. The application also makes it possible to send an SMS to a third person in case of detection of falling asleep. According to the designers of Prudensee, the goal is not so much to scare someone tens of kilometers away from where the driver is, but to alert a passenger. Another avenue for group transport: this alert could, with the consent of the driver of a bus, for example, alert his teammate or the head of the group on board.

Sold € 289 (with or without corrective lenses), the Prudensse glasses benefit from the same social and mutual insurance covers as classic eyeglasses.

Our brief handling of the product is evidence of a very successful equipment and nothing embarrassing. The extra small thickness of the frames absolutely does not interfere and the weight of the electronics is perfectly indistinguishable. The design is classic, but very correct. By simulating a state of drowsiness, the Prudensee responded immediately and without latency. It remains to verify what a Review in situation will give. We will soon travel several hundred kilometers with Prudensee to better Review their efficiency.
