PulseOn, the smart health connected bracelet for heart rate

[ad_1]

Latest bracelet, the PulseOn intends to raise $ 150,000 on IndieGoGo for an object that measures the heart rate with precision. A Pulse O2 bis?

The fall of Nokia a few years ago has done great damage to the Finnish economy. To fight against the loss of more than 15,000 jobs, the government has set up a whole subsidy program for start-ups, of which PulseOn is a part. Advertised as a "spin-off" from Nokia (4 of the 5 founders were employed there), the start-up behind this smart health connected bracelet claims to have one of the sensors most accurate heart rate in the world.

PulSEON: A name and a design close to the Pulings O2 bracelet from withings

If the technology has been in development for 2 years, it is only today that the company formalized its fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo, with a goal of $ 150,000. We can see an approach to compete with a smart health connected bracelet like the Pulse O2 from Withings, but also the blood pressure monitoring from the same brand. Difficult to find a place among the champions of smart health connected objects, especially since Withings may not appreciate the similarities in name (“PulseOn” vs. “Pulse O2”), but also of design. If the Pulse only allows you to measure the heart rate on an ad hoc basis (by pressing a button), the PulseOn will be able to measure it continuously, hence its reason for being!

In all cases, the PulseOn can also measure the intensity of a physical effort, the distance traveled as well as the speed. After one WiFi synchronization on a smartphone iOS or Android, the user will be able to find their data on graphs, but much more: the founders insist that their smart health bracelet goes even further by giving "real" advice to better recover, and take it to the next level.

On the price side, the early-bird rate is $ 169 on IndieGoGo, about 123 €. It is therefore slightly more expensive than the Pulse O2 (119.95 € at ehealth), and in the prices of the Withings blood pressure monitoring (129.95 € at ehealth or at Amazon). Once the IndieGoGo campaign is over, you will have to pay $ 199, or around € 145 to measure your heart rate… Delivery in September 2014.
