Qardiobase 2, a scale smart health connected in emoji mode

The American brand Qardio launches its Qardiobase 2, a smart health connected balance round and minimalist which stands out by displaying emojis instead of weight.

Few, if any, the American company Qardio markets products dedicated to health: smart health connected blood pressure monitoring, abdominal ECG belt for sports and smart health connected scales. The QardioBase 2 is, as its name indicates, the second scale of the manufacturer, after a first model put on the market in 2015.

QardioBase 2 is available in black or white.

Launched at $149.99 (a price now high for this type of device), QardioBase 2 takes the form of a circular plate (34 cm in diameter and 0.23 cm thick). It is available in black or white. Few equivalents on the design side: apart from Terraillon and its Web Coach Easy View, or the firm Medisana and the Target Scale, the scales 2.0 are generally square.

QardioBase 2 connects to Bluetooth (iOS / Android), but synchronizes its data in Wi-Fi. It measures weight, body mass index (BMI), fat mass, muscle mass, body mass and mass. bone. Either quite complete measures. These can obviously be suitable for family use (QardioBase 2 recognizes up to five users), but also for sports use to monitoring the effects of a training on the body. The interesting point: she has a pregnant mode to monitoring the progress of her pregnancy week after week. By indicating in the application the expiry date of the pregnancy, the balance delivers detailed graphs to which it is possible to add photos. It also includes a Normal mode: the scale measures only the weight and not the body composition. The advantage? People with pacemakers will be able to use the scale without risk.

The scale offers a pregnant woman mode.

Fun, if you opt for Smart Back mode, QardioBase 2 displays an emoji at the time of weighing, rather than the number of kilos. If the emoji smiles, the user has lost weight compared to the goal set in the app. If the emoji remains impassive, its weight has not changed. If, finally, the emoji grimaces, it is that the weight has evolved negatively.

“Honey, the scales swallowed an emoji!”

Of course, it is possible to opt for a traditional mode where numbers will be displayed (with the user’s first name). The range of measurements is, as for all smart health connected scales that we know, from 5 to 180 kilos. Waiting for a Review, QardioBase 2 seems interesting. If the scale innovates with its design and a playful approach, its selling price may still be an obstacle. Especially since the Nokia Body +, which currently remains one of the most complete smart health connected scales on the market.
