Quitbit, the lighter smart health connected to stop smoking (or not)

[ad_1]

Quitbit is seeking $ 50,000 on Kickstarter to finance a smart health connected lighter. Added value ? An integrated screen that displays consumption.

After the smart health connected cigarettes, here is Quitbit the smart health connected lighter. The project was launched a few days ago on Kickstarter and will have to raise more than $ 50,000 to see the light of day. What is it specifically? In addition to its primary function, the smart health connected lighter also wants to help smokers to stop smoking. While many projects in smart health connected health have been announced recently, only very few have a “general public” application like Quitbit. It still has to be really relevant …

Unlike BIC plastic lighters, Quitbit is ultra sophisticated: a small integrated screen will display information on the owner's consumption: number of cigarettes lit during the day, time since the last… This information is then sent to a Smartphone application iOS or Android (via Bluetooth 4.0) which allows you to consolidate data and display trends.

Quitbit, more fun than serious?

Without real program concrete behind, you can nevertheless set some rules from your phone: limit the number of lighter fires each day etc, impose break periods … However, not sure if it really works if there is no motivation behind it.

On the practical side, we will also note that the lighter is electronic: exit gas or butane, it will be necessary recharge every week (around 2h) for unlimited use. So there’s obviously no no flame since the lighter uses the same concept as the cigarette lighter in the car.

If you wish to contribute to this project, you will have to pay $ 89 on their crowdfunding page, for a delivery in December 2014 (sale price: $ 149).
