READ THIS FIRST IF YOU CONSIDER BOTOX OR FILLERS

[ad_1]

For some it is the most natural thing in the world to have botox and fillers put in. With injectables, you can enjoy beautiful, smooth skin and a fresh look for longer. But for others, this is uncharted territory. How do you make a good choice if you are new to this world? What are the risks and what should you pay attention to? The skin experts at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek will tell you all about it in this article.

What are injectables?

Injectables are treatments, for example with botulinum toxin or fillers, in which a diluted substance is injected into the skin. Injectables are aimed at improving the shape of the face and structure of the skin.

botulinum toxin

What is it?

Botulinum toxin is a highly diluted substance from the chlostridium bacterium. It is known to the general public as Botox®. The original application of botulinum toxin is medical, eg for excessive sweating, migraine and teeth grinding. It was discovered by accident by a Canadian ophthalmologist. She saw that the foreheads of her patients (whom she treated with botulinum toxin for eye spasm) became very smooth.

What does it do?

By treating superficial wrinkles and lines with botulinum toxin, the muscles relax and the surrounding skin comes to rest. The wrinkles and lines fade.

Treatment/pain/risks

The treatment takes about 15 minutes and is virtually painless. Sometimes you will suffer from bruising after the treatment, but they will disappear after a day or two. The risk of this treatment is nil for experienced doctors.

How long do you enjoy it?

After a day or two you can already see results and after fourteen days it is at its best. Unfortunately, the result is temporary, so you will have to repeat the treatment to maintain it. Usually after 3 to 5 months. If you do this regularly, you will enjoy beautiful smooth skin for longer, because botulinum toxin has a preventive effect. This prevents wrinkles from deepening.

fillers

Do you suffer from loss of volume in the face, such as sunken cheeks or do you have deep wrinkles? Then opt for a filler treatment based on hyaluronic acid to restore volume to the face. With age, the skeleton shrinks. Our body produces less collagen and elastin. As a result, our skin becomes weaker and wrinkles appear. With fillers we can treat these deeper wrinkles in the forehead and frown, with the immediate result a less tired look.

What are they?

With a thin needle or cannula, we inject a diluted substance of hyaluronic acid into deep (frown) wrinkles, the jaw, bags or tear troughs.

What does it do?

Fillers restore volume to the face and improve the skin structure. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that ensures a supple and resilient skin.

How long will the treatment take?

The treatment takes about half an hour. No recovery time is required. You can get back to work immediately.

Does it hurt and are there any risks?

The injections are usually not painful. Before the treatment, the doctor applies a numbing cream to sensitive areas such as the lips. You may experience some swelling for a few days after the treatment.

How long result?

The result of a filler treatment is immediately visible. But the effect is, as with, temporary. Hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body over time. That is why you will have to repeat the treatment after 10-12 months to maintain the result. By regularly repeating the treatment, the body is stimulated to produce collagen. Collagen production is essential for facial volume.

Can you combine botulinum toxin and fillers?

It gives a nice result in combination. Drooping corners of the mouth, a frown wrinkle and sunken cheeks can be treated with botulinum toxin and sunken cheeks with fillers. Do you have volume loss in several places on your face and do you suffer from sagging skin? Then you can also opt for the liquid facelift.

How do you find a good cosmetic doctor?

Do not be tempted by discounts and offers. Always choose a clinic with a ZKN quality mark from the NVCG. Cosmetic doctor is a specialization. It is not without reason that it has been a protected professional title since 2019 that you can only use after successfully completing a two-year course.

What is the NVCG?

The Dutch Association of Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG) is the professional association for cosmetic doctors who can become a member after they have demonstrably been proficient in injectable and laser treatments or surgical procedures such as eyelid correction. On the NVCG website you will find objective information about cosmetic treatments to make the right choice.
