Redmi: its first smart health connected watch arrives and it is inspired a lot by Xiaomi's Mi Watch

While Xiaomi has just presented a smartwatch, Redmi should do the same soon. The alternative brand of the Chinese firm has obtained certification in India for a smart health connected watch. In addition, the brand's general manager posted a message about the accessory on his Weibo account.

In early November, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Watch, a Wear OS smart health connected watch that looks a lot like the Apple Watch. A few months later, at the beginning of January, the Chinese brand presented a second watch that cultivates this resemblance less: the Mi Watch Color. And very soon, Redmi, the alternative brand of Xiaomi recently become independent, should also present a watch. Two clues leading to this conclusion have been noted in recent days.

The first clue is obtaining certification in India. The product concerned has the serial number HMSH01GE. And the category recorded is “smart health connected watch”. It's hard to make it simpler. This certification confirms not only the existence of a smartwatch at Redmi, but also its imminent arrival of the product in India. However, it is still difficult to estimate the date, especially if other certifications are to be obtained before the sale.

A first teaser from the brand director

The second clue is to be found on the side of the Middle Empire. And more specifically on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging portal. Lu Weibing, general manager of the brand, published there a message that evokes the upcoming arrival of a smart health connected watch in its catalog. He brings his product closer to Xiaomi's first smartwatch, the Mi Watch mentioned above. Which suggests that Redmi's first watch should be close enough.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi Watch is a watch with a rectangular case physically close enough to the Apple Watch. It measures 44 mm and is made of stainless steel. Its back is ceramic. The accessory's AMOLED panel measures 1.78 inches (for a 368 x 448 pixel resolution). It is protected by a mineral glass or by synthetic sapphire (depending on the version). Its chipset is a Snapdragon 3100 with 4G modem. It is accompanied by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. The battery has a capacity of 570 mAh. Its OS is Wear OS with a “MIUI” interface. Redmi's watch should build on this base. It remains to be seen how it will differ.
