Reebok Checklight, a smart health connected hat that protects the brain

[ad_1]

English sporting goods maker Reebok formalized at CES 2014 the launch of a new smart health smart health connected object, the Reebok Checklight. Designed for combat sports enthusiasts (but also American footballers or hockey players), this smart health connected cap will allow measure the impacts received at head level of the wearer. If it is in no case a shock detector, it nevertheless gives information on the location, the force and the number of impacts on the head, and warns via a warning system in case of danger imminent: a Green LED means everything is fine, orange = danger and red = stop. For this innovation, Reebok was also awarded the CES the 2014 design and engineering award, nice reward!

The Checklight to avoid too serious shocks

If the aesthetics are not necessarily there, the Checklight smart health connected hat is supposed to be placed under a helmet (boxing, American football or hockey), and is therefore not necessarily visible. Then, and more importantly, it will not only allow you to measure the shock power at the time of impact, but also the reaction of your head to this one. Very often, trauma to the brain does not come from the direct blow, but from the movements (rebounds) of the head as a result of it. For this, the Checkligh incorporates a gyroscope as well as an accelerometer. It is, today, the only product of this type existing on the smart health connected sport objects.

Rechargeable by via a micro-USB port, the hat has a autonomy of about 6 hours, or about 2/3 games. It is currently offered at $ 144.95 on Amazon.com. A price that many athletes will certainly be ready to put, especially when we see the damage that can cause repeated shocks. N.B.: After a violent shock, a diagnosis with a health professional is always recommended.
