Republic Wireless Announces Smart Walkie Talkie!

Republic Wireless has announced two new communication devices called Relay HQ and Anywhere HQ. The Relay HQ is a water-resistant screenless device that works like a walkie-talkie, but is also able to locate your children with a GPS.

Republic Wireless Relay HQ connects to 4G LTE and Wi-Fi networks. It can also stream music, play games, and is equipped with a Google Assistant. The Relay HQ is also equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, an accelerometer and an LED notification ring.

The Relay HQ from Republic Wireless also has a companion app compatible with Android and iOS. It will be marketed at the beginning of 2018 and sold in pairs at a price of $ 149, or in pairs at a price of $ 199. To these prices add $ 6.99 subscription per device.

The Anywhere HQ is a smart voice-activated speaker that lets you make and receive phone calls synchronized with your mobile number and contacts. It is portable, offers 4G LTE connectivity, and also works for several days on a charge. The company says the speaker is an extension of the Republic Anywhere service, which allows customers to text or call from Republic's iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows apps. The Anywhere HQ can also dial emergency numbers over Wi-Fi; what conventional phones can't always do.

When you remove the phone from its docking station, a full numeric keypad is displayed allowing you to enter private mode. The Anywhere HQ can screen calls from robots and spammers, and thanks to LTE, the device can continue to work even when your Internet is down. For the moment no date has been announced for the marketing of the Anywhere HQ.

Personally, I find that both devices seem to be a good alternative for location tracking and communication if you're looking for something that works without a screen.
