RespiraSense receives support from NHS England
RespiraSense has just received support from the National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom by receiving a grant of 220,000 pounds sterling. This little wearable is for people with breathing problems.
With this help, RespiraSense will be able to accelerate its development and, at the same time, help treat patients suffering from respiratory failure. The brand's range of sensors, wearable and applications will therefore join the National Health Service England's Accelerator program.
This allows the device to detect a number of life-threatening conditions for the patient; such as sepsis, pneumonia and cardiac arrest. Obviously, doctors can access the data collected via a tablet and can therefore intervene when the patient's breathing reaches a critical level. To date, a clinical trial of 132 inpatients using the device has revealed that sepsis can be detected six hours earlier than usual, and in some cases twelve hours.

Simon Stevens, Managing Director of National Health Service England, said: "Modern medicine is about to radically change the way care is delivered, and practical innovations like these show how NHS patients will directly benefit ; on the go, without the need to go to a doctor's appointment or outpatient. "
The National Health Service England has also asked the fifteen academic health science networks across the country to start promoting RespiraSense. The same week, the National Health Service England also announced a one-year trial phase for wearables that can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
