REVIEW NIACINAMIDE BOOSTER PAULA’S CHOICE

[ad_1]

Recently I tested Paula’s Choice Niacinamide Booster. This serum has been on my wish list for some time, because it contains the highest dose of Niacinamide. That is why this Booster is extremely popular. Want to know what my opinion is about this promising product? Read my review of this Niacinamide Booster here.

Paula’s Choice

Do you already know Paula’s Choice? Paula’s Choice is an American brand created by Paula Begoun. She was tired of the fact that many care products contain harmful substances and do not do what they promise. For this reason, Paula started her own label, which is a good reason. Paula’s Choice products are all based on scientific research, where the effectiveness of the ingredients comes first. That’s why they don’t sell creams in a jar, for example, because that affects the effectiveness of the substances.

Niacinamide Booster

The product I tested was the Niacinamide Booster. This is a high dose serum, because it contains 10% Niacinamide. As far as I know, this is even the highest dosage of Niacinamide in a care product. It is very important that the dosage of Niacinamide is high, because the substance only works in concentrations from 4%. Furthermore, Niacinamide (aka vitamin B3) is an absolute must in your daily beauty ritual, just like vitamins C and A. Niacinamide promotes the production of collagen, it inhibits inflammation and protects against the damage of UV radiation. It would also help against coarse pores.

My experience with Paula’s choice Niacinamide Booster

The booster is a fine product that looks and feels like water. You can apply it directly to your face under your cream, but you can also mix it with it. 4 drops are enough and it absorbs super fast. I really feel like my skin is happy with the drops as they are just about soaked up. You can’t see it anymore after application.

Pros Niacinamide Booster

What it worked GREAT against was the sun damage I got over the fall break in Sardinia. I had been sitting by the sea and my face was red at the end of the day. Fortunately, a few extra drops of the Niacinamide booster worked wonders. The next morning the redness was gone and my skin felt silky smooth. So it really helped my skin to recover from sun damage, partly due to the high percentage of Niacinamide. So a really nice product. Now it is wise to add a high-dose Niacinamide serum to your routine, but especially if you go to the sun! I also felt less bothered by inflammation and spots on my face. Oh yes, the booster should also work against coarse pores, but unfortunately I have not been able to find that out for myself.

Questions to Paula’s Choice

Because I always want to know the bottom line, I asked Paula’s Choice some pressing questions about their product. See below for my questions and their response to them.

1. the vial is not airtight. Doesn’t this affect stability?

The effectiveness of products is a top priority at Paula’s Choice, partly due to the stability of the ingredients used. We believe it is important that products are as airtight and light-tight as possible so that ingredients remain stable. Moreover, all formulas and packaging are extensively subjected to various stability tests before a product is launched on the market. In addition, ease of use of packaging is of course also important.

2. can you also use the serum under the eyes?

The serums (including the Niacinamide Booster) from Paula’s Choice are usually ideal for use around the eyes. If it concerns a product with 1% retinol or an exfoliant, be a little more careful and do not apply the product too close to the eyes. Always look closely at how the skin (around the eyes) reacts to high concentrations of ingredients.

3. It is said that you should not take Niacinamide with Vitamin C. Is that correct?

Niacinamide can and can be used with vitamin C without any problems! This does not affect the effectiveness of the ingredients. We are also aware of the warning, but it is outdated and based on a misinterpretation of published research results. This research on niacinamide and vitamin C was conducted in the early 1960’s using unstable forms of these ingredients. At that time, research into cosmetics was still in its infancy and the results of this early study do not sufficiently apply to skin care products.

4. Does the ingredient Citric Acid in your product not promote photo-aging?

In higher concentrations, citric acid can act as an AHA exfoliant, however, much more research has been done on the effectiveness of glycolic and lactic acids and these give a less stinging sensation to the skin. The use of fruit acids (AHAs) makes the top layer of the skin slightly thinner by removing dead skin cells, which can make the skin slightly more sensitive to sunlight and daily sun protection is even more important. However, citric acid is mainly added in low concentrations to cosmetic products to balance the pH value or as a preservative. The biggest culprit of (photo-)aging remains unprotected exposure to the sun, so we advise everyone to protect their skin daily with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
