With the Ring ehealth Doorbell 2's boxing, it's hard to be surprised if you're used to the brand's products. Whether at the level of sobriety of the box or clever storage, we are on familiar ground. Inside, of course, we recover the cables and screws, but also a multifunction screwdriver. This is the only one you will need to install your smart health connected doorbell.

Design and ergonomics of the Ring ehealth Doorbell 2

Presentation of the Ring connected doorbell

Regarding the Ring ehealth Doorbell, we can say that the simplicity of installation is there. Indeed, if several electrical connections are necessary, they remain anecdotal and rather easy. Fixing the device is no more problem, especially thanks to instructions provided, all very clear. However, it is advisable to obtain the application directly and follow it. Indeed, the mounting instructions are much more precise on this one than on paper. Note however that the object is not not compatible with homes with a garden. Indeed, no door opening system is included. So, if you have to open a portal for example, you will have to move.

On the construction side, we’re already more worried. And for good reason, the shell of the device under which the battery is in plastic. We feel real impression of fragility in front of it. While the doorbell is (logically) placed in the street, it cannot be said that this is very reassuring. But all is not black, since a fast charge battery is included in the Ring ehealth Doorbell. This works without connections and avoids any wired link. A boon for anyone really allergic to manual work involving electricity.

Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 features

Ring app screenshot

Faced with a smart health connected doorbell, we do not think we will find a large number of features. The Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 shows itself despite everything rather generous. First, there are elements that can be expected, namely the alert on the smartphone as soon as someone rings. We can then use the camera and see who is on the landing. If the quality is good, the objective has sometimes having trouble following the movements and offers us a slight porridge of pixels instead of the face. Note that as soon as night falls, the camera automatically switches to night mode.

There is also a motion detection system that will alert you as soon as someone steps in front of your door. Suffice to say that it is better not to activate it if it directly overlooks a street. Depending on this function, it is also possible to contact the person standing in front of the camera. This is at least the case in theory, since in practice it is very difficult to understand anything. Indeed, even when speaking from a quiet place, cuts and crackling are to be deplored for both parties. Needless to say, the phenomenon is getting worse in a noisy place.

Application of Ring ehealth Doorbell 2

Application of the ring connected doorbell

Like all Ring products, the ehealth Doorbell 2 uses the app dedicated to the brand's objects. So we find once again a simple design, but above all very instinctive. With it, your smartphone turns into a remote control allowing you to fully control the device. The possibility of review videos captured on each ring. Be careful though, as this is only available with a Ring Protect subscription. This one reaches 30 € / year (or € 3 / month) for a camera and € 100 / year (or 10 € / month) for an unlimited number of cameras. A 30-day trial period is still available for purchase.

smart health connected by Wifi, no machine cut is to be deplored during the Review. As long as the box has no problem, the doorbell shouldn't have either. This link is also found with all the Ring products you own, since everyone can be smart health connected to the others. If the Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 works alone, it is much more effective with other objects, such as a lock. There is also compatibility with other systems, such as that Alexa and IFTTT.

The Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 facing the competition

The smart health connected doorbell market is quite small. It is therefore quite difficult to find a large number of competitors for the Ring ehealth Doorbell 2. There are still a few.

Great

Suffice to say right away: in terms of skills, the LeGrand is no match for Ring's product. His viewing angle is more reduced (95 ° against 185 °) and he can only take photos. We will nevertheless retain a better energy saving and an stronger construction and discreet. Even if it is much cheaper, with 126 euros, we will still tend to recommend the ehealth Doorbell 2 to you.

We address here a real opponent for Ring. Indeed, the SkyBell has a many of the features of the subject of this Review. It also sends an alarm to the smartphone each time it rings, records videos and lets speak to the newcomer. It also has a connection with several important systems, such as Amazon Echo, Nest or Samsung SmartThings. For 199 euros, this is one of the best value for money on the market.

Conclusion

The Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 is not perfect, but it has a number of arguments in its favor. If it’s a pity that the vocal part is of very poor quality and she’s not not suitable for houses with gardens, we are facing a good product. Her ehealth and its application are of very good quality, the latter being suitable for novices. If we stay circumspect as to the solidity of the objectt, its construction still has the advantage of facilitate its installation. If you absolutely need a smart health connected doorbell, the Ring ehealth Doorbell 2 is far from a bad choice.

Design and ergonomics : The installation is particularly simple, even for DIY allergy sufferers. The possibility of using the doorbell battery without the need to connect wires is also a good point. Too bad the device seems fragile, in addition to being incompatible with houses with a garden and an exterior door.

Features : As you would expect, the functionality of the Ring smart health connected doorbell is not very numerous. However, they are effective and work well for the most part. Too bad the "sound" part including the calls are also poorly rendered. It is indeed very hard to be understood through the machine, whether on the phone or on camera.

Application : We find the same application as for all other Ring products. Always so easy to use and understand, it allows you to quickly take the doorbell in hand. Unlike some objects in the range, the connection holds particularly well and suffers from no significant bug or latency. We note, however, the need to take out a subscription to access all of its features.

Value for money : By observing the competition, you quickly realize that the price of the Ring smart health connected doorbell is average. Considering its qualities and its defects, it is probably a little too high, without counting the subscription to the application. We are still on an honorable cost.
