Unboxing of the Sensor Mirror Pro

Unpacking the Simplehuman smart health connected mirror is easy. The black cardboard box provides a wide range of explanations and practical cases for the user. These diagrams are intended to compensate for the user manual which is very brief and does not give all the possibilities of use. Once the box is opened, the mirror is enclosed in a pasteboard case.

Remove the paper tape around it to discover the object and its accessories. The famous manual also contains a micro-fiber cloth and a 5-year warranty on the mirror. Not enough to cover the 7 years of misfortune if you ever break it. The USB power cable is also supplied with an adaptable plug for Europe, ÉUnited States and the United Kingdom. Finally, there is also the perfect magnifying glass to magnify your imperfections.

Design and Ergonomics of the Sensor Mirror Pro

The mirror is forged in steel to make the structure reliable and solid. If the foot of this one is irremovable, its head can be pivoted on a vertical axis. The Sensor Mirror Pro is not really aesthetic, but the smart health connected mirror fits perfectly into a bathroom.

The downside regarding the ergonomics of the mirror happens to be its size: 36 centimeters in height. The major problem is that it is simply impossible to put it higher via an adjustable foot. The mirror must therefore find its place on a suitable shelf or piece of furniture.

On the other hand, the strong point of its ergonomics lies on the back of the mirror. The On / Off power button is placed there as well as the socket to charge the object. At the base of the stand is an LED that color-coded indicates the status of the mirror's battery. If it turns red, charge it until the light turns green. Finally, if the magnifying glass ever encumbers you, know that it is possible to store it in a magnetic notch provided for this purpose.

Application of the Sensor Mirror Pro

The app that goes hand in hand with the Sensor Mirror Pro is called simplehuman. It is available on iOS and Android and only weighs 8MB. The app connects to the mirror via Bluetooth while requiring a health home W-Fi connection. Once the device is smart health connected, you can manage it from your smartphone.

Among the possibilities of function on the application, the user is able to modify the light surrounding the mirror. The options are diverse and varied depending on the brightness. It is therefore possible to adapt it if it is full day or overcast. Finally via the application, it is possible to choose its personalized brightness by taking a photo presenting a particular light. Be careful, the mirror is only able to make shades of white.

Thanks to simplehuman, the owner of the smart health connected mirror can also program it to make it an alarm clock.. To do this, you must set the alarm time and wait. When the expired hour arrives, the object does not emit any sound, on the other hand it diffuses a warm yellowed light. This corresponds to the light of a sunrise.

Using the Sensor Mirror Pro

The main functionality of the Simplehuman smart health connected mirror is obviously to be able to look at you. The Sensor Mirror Pro pays special attention to your imperfections. Bristles, pimples and blackheads are highlighted for your displeasure. For information, the mirror can also be used via the Amazon Alexa voice assistant and also linked to Nest Cam.

The autonomy of the smart health connected mirror for a full charge is 4 weeks. To activate the LEDs located around the product, you must approach your face about 30 centimeters from it. The light will illuminate your skin and bring out hidden imperfections. You will be able to see the extent of the damage and the work that awaits you.

The mirror itself is capable of magnifying up to 5 times what it reflects. With the magnifying glass, the magnification is done by ten. Reflection is the only possible use of the Sense Mirror Pro, even through the app. The added value lies in the fact that via the application, we can manage the brightness around the mirror.

The Sensor Mirror Pro facing the competition

In the world of smart health connected objects, mirrors are not the most common. To find your way around, the editorial team has drafted a top of smart health connected mirrors. Most of the elements proposed are currently projects on the Kickstarter platform. For the comparison, we have chosen to highlight the mirror made in France: Miliboo Ekko. The latter was presented at CES 2017.

The Sensor Mirror Pro is a round mirror on a stand. Unfortunately, the latter cannot be modified in order to be able to adjust the object. It has a diameter of 20 centimeters, therefore the user must approach his face very closely. Conversely, the Miliboo Ekko is much larger and more practical since it is much wider. It is sold with an oak support which allows it to be stabilized.

In terms of use, the Simplehuman mirror is quite simple. Just put your face in front of the object so that the LEDs light up to illuminate your imperfections. With the app of the same name, the person can manage the brightness according to the day. For the Miliboo, the use is very different. The smart health connected mirror allows you to consult the news, read your YouTube playlists. It is more of a multimedia mirror than an object of well-being.

In trade, the Sensor Mirror Pro is sold at a price of 280 €. For a standard mirror of 20 cm in diameter, the basic price is around 70 €. For the whole of the proposed technology the price / quality ratio is not really optimal. Similarly, the Miliboo mirror is sold for € 399 again despite the technology, the price seems high.

Conclusion on the Sensor Mirror Pro

The Sensor Mirror Pro smart health connected mirror is the first of its kind from the Simplehuman brand. The design of the product is similar to a standard mirror even if the latter does not have an adjustable foot to put it in front of your face. The main addition of this smart health connected mirror, lies in the management of light via an application. With the help of magnifying mirrors you can take care of your imperfections to eliminate them. The simplehuman application is used to manage the brightness of the mirror but also to use it as an alarm clock. The main weakness of the mirror lies in its price of € 280, which is far too expensive in light of the technologies offered.
