Updated 05/15/2015 : The Sony Smart Sensor is available for $ 199 on the official Sony store.

Sony has announced the release of a number of smart health connected devices at CES 2014. After presenting its new bracelet, the Core, now comes the Tennis Sensor. As its name suggests, this module will allow you to measure a lot of data on your game, which you can then analyze directly from your Smartphone. To do this, you will need to place the Tennis Sensor at the end of the handle of your racket during your tennis game. Do not worry about its weight, it weighs only 9 grams.

The module allows players to measure a lot of data, and directly competes with itArtengo Personal Coach. Precisely, the Tennis Sensor measures movements and vibrations to then communicate the speed and rotation of your balls or the place of impact of it on your racket. The French manufacturer Babolat was even more enterprising during the CES, presenting the first smart health connected racket, the Babolat Play.

As a casual player, I will quickly order the Tennis Sensor as soon as it is released, to measure its accuracy myself, and share my impressions with you. The first feedback from the (lucky) beta testers at CES is already very positive.

In its presentation, Sony announced that the object was only at the prototype stage, and that it could see the light of day at the end of 2014. The price of the Tennis Sensor was also not disclosed.
