Design and Hardware

Zepp Football at the best price

In the box we find a Zepp sensor, charging cable via USB, two under-socks (to fit the size of your calf) and the various instructions. The sensor is sober and its announced autonomy is to 40 hours in a match. Zepp Football connects to the smartphone via the Bluetooth 4.0 and has a 3-axis accelerometer and a gyroscope, 3 axes also.

The quality of the under-socks is excellent and the placement of the sensor (behind the calf) is not binding, even when wearing shin guards. Zepp Football is iOS and Android compatible, with most recent smartphones on the market. The reload is fast (they arrived 50% loaded), the configuration is done in less than a minute (I'll come back in the section on the application) and small stickers provided allow you to note the names on the sensors and indicate the strong foot, so you do not mix in the sensors.

Last precision, you can play with a sensor on your strong foot, or wear one per foot, for even more precision in the data, especially for passes and shots.

Features and application of Zepp Football

The configuration is very simple. You start by creating your profile and your team if necessary. At this point, you have to tie a sensor to the wearer, indicating his or her strong foot. Then just scan the QR code and the application immediately recognizes the right sensor for the right player. To create the rest of the team, you can either manually create the players, or send an invitation link, each player can use his own Zepp account.

Zepp can detect distance traveled, maximum speed, number of sprints and strikess (combination of shots and passes). Each of these data is available for the team, but also for each player individually. In addition to this, the possession time, and the conversion rate are indicated at the end of the match or training. A leaderboard is also in the game with the fastest players, who hit the most balls, the ones who sprint the most and those who covered the most distance.

To start the detection of Zepp you have the choice between a training, a quick match or a team match. I set up the team composition before the match, and we just had to synchronize the sensors before kick-off and then it was done.

During the match, the application allows tag each event, and even filming highlights. This feature is just great because it allows you to have all the actions at the end of the match, as well as a summary of the stats of each player formatted in a video. For you information about our match against Rivière Plate, That's where it happens.

The fact of being able share this data via social networks is a real plus, and allows a greater immersion for the absent players, see the supporters.

In addition to the summary you have access to a full timeline of everything that happened during the match, which you gives progression tracks. On my match we can see that I cover a lot of distance, but that I am one of the players who touches the least balloons. I certainly have some progress to make at the level of the marking.

My opinion on the Zepp Football

When we had the opportunity to Review Zepp Football sensors (the company lent them to us) we immediately darkened. You can see it in the video, I am a fan of these sensors, and the information he has provided gives real insights on the matches. The only minor weakness that I have seen for now is the quality of the video images, but I could not Review any other smartphone than mine, so I do not know if it comes from the app or phone.
