Rip Curl Search GPS, the smart health connected watch for surfers

[ad_1]

The Australian brand Rip Curl is not its first watch. On the other hand, its latest Search GPS is smart health connected, and allows you to record the movements of surfers.

Australian surf brands are currently struggling to develop, like Billabong, who is on the verge of bankruptcy. His counterpart Rip Curl seeks to diversify in technology with the release in the coming weeks of the Rip Curl Search GPS, a smart health connected watch that will above all measure the wearer's physical activity. Please note, the surf brand is not new to watches since it has been selling (classic) watches for over 20 years. Closer to the bracelet than to the smart health watch, Search GPS will be able to measure the top speed, surf time or distance traveled.

The Rip Curl Search GPS will obviously waterproof and display all this information on the screen, but also on a iPhone application where synchronization is done via Bluetooth. The brand's next goal is to develop an Android app, according to Shane Helm, one of the chairmen of Rip Curl. For those who do not have a smartphone, a USB connection is also available to display information on the web interface.

The watch will be available in black or white, for AUD 499, or approximately 349 €. It will be marketed in more than 850 stores in Australia, from october 2014. Then you will have to wait to see them internationally.

Update: Julien, one of our readers, contacted Rip Curl who told him that the global release would also take place in October 2014.
