During CES 2020, Samsung unveiled a spherical mini-robot called Ballie intended to assist us in the management of the smart health connected house.
If you've always dreamed of having a little sidekick who follows you everywhere like in the movies, you’ll love Samsung’s invention. For the Korean firm, the device fits into what it calls the "Age of experience", defined by human-centered technologies. Thus Ballie will be able to understand and, above all, respond to the needs of its owner, particularly in terms of health home automation.
#Ballie is part of the next evolution of #IoT – patrolling your health home, acting as a #fitness assistant, and acting as a remote control for the smart devices in your health home. # CES2020 # SamsungCES2020 pic.twitter.com/u1Phkpy3Eb

Samsung Ballie, the robot that does everything for you
According to Engadget, the little traveling companion could manage all the functions of the house for us. So in a promotional ehealth for Ballie posted by Samsung on Twitter and YouTube, we see the robot open the curtains a room in the morning.
Even more surprising, the machine automatically seems to know what to do in a given situation. For example, activates a vacuum robot when a dog knocks over a bowl on the floor and plays videos on TV to amuse the animal left alone at health home.
The machine can also act as playful sports coach to assist you during your physical exercises. Finally, according to Samsung, it can also call help if he sees a person fall without getting up.

Alexa-style AI in physical format
To achieve all these prowess, Samsung has equipped its Ballie robot withan artificial intelligence capable of meeting our needs as they change. This AI uses a mobile interface, looking for the best ways to improve our lives.
As for the format of the machine, Samsung is not the first to have released a spherical mini-robot intended for the health home. Indeed, LG launched its own in 2016. Besides, the two devices are very similar and share many features. In any case, Samsung ensures that its version will not present any risk to the privacy of its customers thanks to draconian standards.
For now, no information on a possible marketing of this intriguing object.
