Samsung Brainband – A wearable against concussions

[ad_1]

Samsung Brainband is a wearable aimed at fighting concussions in contact sports. This smart health connected banner could indeed measure the long-term effects of the blows received by athletes.

Samsung Brainband connected headband

Samsung Brainband was developed by Samsung Australia. It is intended for athletes practicing contact sports such as rugby or the NFL; sports where there are many head injuries. Mainly made from rubber, it fits perfectly around the athlete's head. Equipped with sensors capable of reading and recording brain movement, it also has LEDs on the back to indicate when a player has taken a hit. Depending on the violence of the blow, the LEDs flash in yellow, orange or red. All information is sent in real time to a phone, tablet or smartwatch.

This product is ideal for a coach, medical team or referee. The society hopes to quickly collect as much data as possible to help medical personnel care for athletes. This smart health connected banner also records the impact history for a player throughout the season or throughout his career.

Industrial designer Braden Wilson and neuro-scientist Alan Pearce, creators of the Brainband, are currently working on ten different prototypes. With a nice grant from Samsung Australia, it's a safe bet that this project will one day be realized.
