Samsung launches smart shoes
The IOFIT shoes were imagined by the Creative Lab of Samsung (C-Lab). These smart health connected shoes manufactured by Salted Venture are intended for golfers and people who practice fitness.
IOFIT shoes have sensors in the outsole and therefore have no impact on the comfort of the shoes. A Bluetooth transmitter has also been hidden in this location to send data directly to your smartphone or tablet. Motion and pressure sensors are capable of measuring force at multiple points and can determine aspects such as balance, weight transfer, location of center of gravity, contact force to the ground and more. They are also able to determine the number of steps, the duration of the workout and the distance traveled in real time.
IOFIT shoes are obviously washable and should have 7-10 days of battery life. They will be recharged thanks to a wireless support. The battery built into the shoes is also able to know when the shoes are not in use and can therefore save battery power.
The secret laboratory of Samsung has obviously been very busy lately. He had already unveiled his first collection of experimental devices at CES 2016 earlier this year. We could see the Rink motion controller for the Samsung Gear VR, the TIPtalk bracelet for the smartwatches and the Welt smart belt.
IOFIT shoes will be presented at Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona next week. Golf shoes will be offered for $ 259 (a $ 60 discount will be offered from February 22 to March 10) and fitness shoes will be offered for $ 199 (a $ 50 discount will be offered from February 22 to March 10). The company's roadmap suggests that the shoes will be released to beta testers in March and that a Kickstarter campaign will be launched by July 2016.
