Samsung SmartGlasses – Google Glass & HoloLens Hybrid
Samsung SmartGlasses may well be hybrid glasses mixing the best of Google Glass and Microsoft HoloLens headphones.
The Samsung SmartGlasses are revealed a little more in a new patent. The Korean brand is once again trying to compete with Google Glass while nibbling HoloLens market share.
The design of these smart glasses is very similar to that of Google. The device described in the Samsung patent has a camera for each eye, a transparent screen for each eye and a host of sensors to track the movement of the head.
The two cameras placed so close to the user would be ideal for 3D POV immersive content. In front of each eye we will therefore find a screen similar to that of Google Glass. Where we get closer to HoloLens is that the visual information will be disseminated in your real environment. Besides, hopes for a HoloLens or Magic Leap standard; but it is too early to tell.
Outside the Samsung SmartGlasses, a bunch of LEDs and sensors to track head movement and position. It seems that Samsung is working on a system that is similar to the head tracking technology used in VR headsets by Oculus and Sony.
To control this wearable, we can use a combination of voice, gestures and a small touch screen like the one on the lens glass. OS listed, no information at this time, but it could be the Tizen house OS.
To date, there is no release date but it is a safe bet that it is not for out immediately when we see the workload to be cut. With among others 3D cameras, two AR screens, Samsung could well create a successful product for consumers…
