Samsung's future activity tracker… Gear S2 version

Samsung continues the success of its Gear S2 smart health connected watch. Indeed, its new activity tracker, nicknamed "Triathlon" (but actually called SM-R150) whose first images appeared, looks like two drops of water like … a Samsung Gear S2.

SM-R150, a familiar activity tracker

You could say that Samsung has found its style. Compare the sports model of a Gear S2 (the one with the plastic bracelet we complained about in our Review, remember?) with the first photos of the SM-R150, and let's play the seven differences. The circular screen, the rotating ring (which, of course, was one of the big strengths of the Gear S2) and the interface are substantially similar on the two products.

The SM-R150 is not a poor man’s Gear S2, however. It does not have the same claims, since it is less a smart health connected watch than a activity tracker. As such, it should embark the “Bio Processor” chip, presented by the Korean company at CES 2016 and which was already fitted to the S-Patch prototype.

In addition, and unlike the Gear S2, the SM-R150 should have a Heart. It will have the functionality of count the number of repetitions in a workout, from measure body fat and of keep an eye on water consumption of the user. Moreover, the SM-R150 can be worn as a bracelet or clipped to the wearer's chest as an accessory.

In short, the SM-R150 may look like it, it does not have all the features of the Samsung Gear S2 and should therefore be available at a more affordable price. No information on its true price however neither on the availability date. It goes without saying that we will not fail to keep you informed.
