Sensory sensors being tested in a Florida hospital

Do hospitals finally open their doors to smart health connected objects? You have to believe that yes, in the United States …

Boogio device arrives at hospital

Not long ago we were conducting an investigation into the use of smart health connected objects in French hospitals. If they are not really used here, it is not the same observation in the United States. Indeed, a Florida hospital decided to let smart health connected objects in to perform tests in his orthopedic department.

The hospital decided to Review the Boogio platform, developed by Reflx Labs, to better monitoring and treat patients with orthopedic problems. Thanks to a set of sensory sensors linked to the Boogio platform it is possible to follow the movements made and know the pressure exerted on the foot when walking. Boogio allows you to see the balance of our movements with 3D sensors slipped inside the patient’s shoe. By connecting to the Boogio mobile app, doctors or physiotherapists can monitoring a patient's progress even from a distance.

What do the hospital staff think?

The hospital chose this method in order to follow their patients inside and outside the hospital and thus understand the origin of the orthopedic problems from which their patients suffer.

"We have an opportunity to collect data when they are not here with a portable device like the Boogio at health home, but when they are here, how can we really personalize the care with the data that we have been able to collect?"As Ashley Simmons, director of development and innovation at the Florida Hospital explains, there is still lots of tests to do to be able to really use this device and especially know how to use the data collected.

Despite this, the team remains confident as for this new technology: “We believe innovative products like Boogio can be applied in healthcare, and we can't wait to see how this technology can help our patients."Said Vickie White, vice president of strategic partnership at the Florida Hospital.

American teams are not leaving this technology to chance and are currently carrying out numerous tests to be able to understand how this device works and know the best way to use the data collected. The goal is to best help patients and their provide appropriate care.

The United States is ahead of the gameuse of smart health connected devices and could certainly influence French hospitals in the years to come.
