Shock – Casio's first smartwatch
The G-Shock, Casio's first smartwatch, was presented today at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. While some brands are surfing on modernity, the brand seems to want to reuse the watches that made it famous.
The G-Shock is also trying to take its competitors by foot, trying to avoid the weaknesses inherent in their product. The main one: the battery life. Indeed, on a single charge you can use your Casio G-Shock for a month.
But back to design. While some brands try to miniaturize their products as much as possible, Casio does the opposite and offers a more than massive watch. Suffice to say that if you have small arms and small wrists, you will look a little ridiculous with this watch on your arm. On the color side, no pink gold or carbon finish. Casio has bet on Orange, green and red. Rest assured a black finish will still be available. The screen of the watch is much more sober. This LCD color screen offers a largely monochrome display.
In terms of features and specifics, the Casio smartwatch is water resistant up to 50 meters, equipped with a pressure sensor, a compass and an accelerometer. A small button at the top right of the dial will allow you to access information on your route, the tides and your activities. Once the watch is paired with your smartphone, it will be able to use third-party apps like fishing apps or hiking maps. This Android smart health connected watch is really intended for outdoor sports.
This smartwatch will be available around the end of March, early April. Its price should be around 500 dollars.
