Towards a smart health connected doctor / patient relationship?

[ad_1]

We wanted to complete our survey in the field of smart health connected health and more specifically on the side of doctors. This time we are therefore interested in the relationship between a doctor and his patient. A possibly connected smart health relationship?

Connected smart health doctors?

A while ago we were doing a survey on the use of smart health connected objects in hospitals. The results of this investigation revealed to us concerns about the arrival of these devices in hospitals. They mainly called into question their reliability and the many tests to be carried out before setting them up in a health establishment. However, we later saw that a Florida hospital had set up smart health connected objects in one of its departments.

However, some of our interlocutors thought he was more obvious for a doctor to set up a smart health connected medical follow-up with a patient he knows, rather than a hospital staff with one of their patients. “In my opinion, its effectiveness, if it is proven, would be more useful for people followed in town and not in hospital”Nathalie told us.

In fact, city doctors know their patients better than doctors working in hospitals. The relationship has generally lasted longer and visits are regular.

Some doctors use smart health connected objects and Review them on themselves to check their reliability. Others don’t feel not really concerned with this new technology. So we went meet doctors to get their opinions on a possible implementation of smart health connected objects for the monitoring of certain patients.

Smart health relationship & connected monitoring, for or against?

To answer our questions and obtain different opinions, we met with three doctors. Doctor Beret, in operation for 10 years, the Doctor Michel practicing for almost 12 years as well as the Doctor Alani, healthcare professional for 5 years.

Only one of our interlocutors, Doctor Alani, was interested in smart health connected health devices but he decided to Review them on him for the moment. So, he does not want to take risks with his patients but says to himself “ready to take the plunge when these technologies are secure

So speaking of reliability and efficiency It is quite natural that we wanted to ask our health professionals the question. The three doctors agree on this point : “I think they are reliable, in fact many tests are carried out and the companies would not take the risk of a trial … ” says Doctor Michel.

So what are so objects that could potentially interest these doctors, for one of their patients? “I know that there is an iPhone application for blood sugar levels in people with diabetes, I think this can be a good way to monitoring them remotely, knowing that diabetes is a long-term pathology and that it is not possible to treat it but only to monitoring it”Answers Doctor Alani.

Who says use of smart health connected objects also says data collection, we asked the doctors if finally could the use of these objects be positive or negative, for the doctor as for the patient? “Positive, if patients use smart health connected objects wisely and doctors can interpret the results they receive! So check… ” declares Doctor Béret.

Doctor Michel specifies us: ” It can be both. Positive because it saves time when the patient comes to the office, it saves him from recording certain information and for us it is regular monitoring thanks to the data. Negative because the price of certain applications for smartphones or smart health connected devices are relatively expensive for patients

Doctor smart health relationship

Finally, we came to a controversial issue in the smart health connected health sector. Indeed, some claim that in a few years smart health connected objects could replace consultations with doctors, for certain pathologies. That would be done thanks to remote monitoring that the devices offer. In addition, it would allow doctors to have more time for their other patients. What do our three doctors think?

Honestly I think that these objects are reliable but we must not exaggerate, they cannot replace a consultation with a doctor“, Says Doctor Beret.

Doctor Michel expands more on his answer: “I don’t think these devices can replace a doctor’s consultation, but they can surely be an” alarm signal “that allows you to request a consultation with a doctor or specialist before the symptoms get worse. Patients can use them but it is still necessary to consult, it is important! Using smart health connected objects with your patient can then be a good idea if some people think that it can replace a consultation because at that time the doctor can monitoring and the patient does not draw his own conclusions. ”

The subject is debated in the field of smart health connected health but among doctors if many questions arise, they still remain wary of this new technology.
