Smarthome Apple – Discover it from the inside!

Today, I invite you to discover an Apple smarthome from the inside. As the race between Apple, Amazon and Google begins, I thought it would be interesting to see what all of this actually looked like.

First difference, in the Apple smarthome, no device is manufactured by the apple brand; except for Apple TV which acts as a hub. Instead, the American giant relies on third-party manufacturers offering products compatible with its HomeKit system. The latter then responsible for making them work together via its iOS application.

Techcrunch had the chance to visit a health home equipped with Apple's HomeKit last week. This house was built and pre-wired by the house building company Lennar, in Alameda, California. Inside: more than 100 HomeKit devices, including Lutron Serena smart health connected curtains, a Honeywell Lyric Round Wi-Fi thermostat or a Schlage Sense smart health connected lock.

Apple’s application is designed to allow you to easily control all of your Internet-smart health connected products. You can group some HomeKit devices to create or modify a new scene. This allows you to activate multiple devices with a single command; either by tapping the screen or with Siri.

Above, you can see your favorite “scenes” or the modes you use most often. A stage can simply manage your smart health connected bulbs or simply manage a set of devices when you get health home.

As I said, Apple TV works like a HomeKit hub that allows you to access your health home remotely and, for example, close the door of your garage. To ensure privacy and complete security, Apple uses encryption with all HomeKit certified devices.

According to those who used it, the handling is quite simple although during the demo all the devices were already smart health connected and configured according to certain scenes. In my opinion, this is the most complicated and the least pleasant step. In my opinion, to connect 100 devices, it will take you a few hours if not a few days! And that the brand has understood.
