Sonoff SC to monitoring its environment

In this new article, we go with the Sonoff SC monitoring our environment. But what exactly do we mean by that?

You have to see the Sonoff SC as a health home environment monitoring station. It will allow us to measure air quality, noise level, brightness, temperature and humidity in a room in real time. Phew just that, without further ado let's discover this new tool.

Side packaging, we find in addition to the cover photo, a reminder of the elements monitored. Air quality, noise level, brightness, temperature and humidity.

From an aesthetic point of view, there is no doubt, the whole has style. Triangular, white with a black circular top, it does not go unnoticed. Despite its somewhat imposing size 10cm x 8cm x 8cm, it will find its place on a bedside table or on a wardrobe. The set comes with a USB cable with a switch, but not with the charger.

For the technical characteristics, the Sonoff SC is equipped with 4 sensors to be able to recover all this information, namely:

• A DHT 11 for real time temperature (0 – 100 ℃) and humidity (%)

• Photoresistor GM5528 for the light level: dark, normal, bright

• A SHARP dust sensor for air quality: good, moderate, unhealthy

• And a microphone to detect the sound level: calm, normal, noisy

In order to use the Sonoff SC, you will need to install the free smartphone app on Android and iOS.

Installation is always as simple, always the same. After connecting the Sonoff SC to the mains via the USB cable, the button on the back of the device is pressed for 5 seconds until the LED flashes. We follow the following instructions on the application. Once the device is recognized, you can access the different information.

The whole is clear and well presented, I particularly appreciate the representation of the air quality.

Another interesting point is the scenario management with this equipment. For example, a fan can be triggered if the temperature exceeds a certain set point. Or if the air quality becomes bad.

Conclusion

The set is well presented despite its somewhat imposing size, we regret the absence of a battery that would make it autonomous. Another point, this equipment is still in development and therefore susceptible to some bugs. But that should get better over time.

As usual, all the details of the material are freely available. Making it easily reprogrammable and editable. We will see together in a future article how to improve the whole and modify the firmware to integrate it easily into our Jeedom.
