Sony's Smart Tennis Sensor officially announced

At CES 2014, Sony took the opportunity to present a plethora of smart health connected objects, including a sensor designed specifically for tennis players, the Smart Tennis Sensor. If we already knew its design, we knew nothing about its characteristics and its price. Now everything is known since Sony has just published an official press release announcing the sensor.
Sony offers excellent analysis support for tennis
A direct competitor of the Babolat Play (€ 399), it is attached to the end of the racket handle, the Smart Tennis Sensor is equipped with numerous sensors which will allow to record in real time the power of strikes, the place of impact of the bullet on the rope or the ball speed. Better yet, the 8 grams only even know distinguish the different hits and effects that the player will put in the ball (forehand, backhand, slice, lift, smash …). Sony does not intend to replace a real trainer, but rather to serve as support for an a posteriori analysis.
In total, the sensor can record up to 12,000 shots. A ehealth mode (someone will have to film) on the mobile application allows you to consult the data in real time and analyze the position of the tennis player. The operating time of the sensor is approximately 180 minutes (90 min if Bluetooth is activated) for a charging time of approximately 120 minutes.
The group highlights its expertise in sound to measure all this data. These will then be recoverable on a smartphone with an operating system iOS or Android using Bluetooth. On the first images of the application, we see a very complete and clear interface which should delight tennis fans.
At first, the Sony sensor will only be compatible with Wilson, Prince and Yonex snowshoes. One can imagine that in the future, it can also be attached to other models. On the price side, it will take $ 200 for the Smart Tennis Sensor with availability on wilson.com and at authorized resellers in the United States and Canada from january 2015.
