The 5 Essences and the 5 Movements – smart health with Traditional Chinese Medicine

The creative dynamics of the proto-world (we defined the proto-world in a previous article) is called energy. This energy gives life to information from the source world. This is why it is also called "vital energy".

The Indian concept of Prana, the Chinese concept of Qi, the Japanese concept of Ki, the Polynesian concept of Mana and the Aryan concept of Vril, address this cosmic life force.

The fundamental duality that we observe in this cosmic life force is that it increases and decreases alternately. When this vital energy increases and becomes stronger, it is called Yin. When this vital energy decreases and becomes weaker, it is called Yang.

By definition, energy is movement. Energy is never motionless. Stillness belongs to the world of the source. In the proto-world there is only the movement of energy. The movement of the proto-world energy is projected into the three-dimensional structure of the shadow world.

In order to understand the 2D dynamics of proto-energy, we start by analyzing the movement of a vortex.

Computer generated vortex

The figure above shows a downward spiral movement. This downward movement winds first towards what is called the central zero point at the heart of the maelstrom, then it moves away from this central point. From the point of view of the center of this vortex, from the zero point, we first observe a spiral which arrives or enters from above and which rotates anticlockwise, then a spiral which descends or leaves towards the bottom and which turns clockwise. The incoming movement is Yin and the outgoing movement is Yang.

From a physiological point of view, the incoming movement is positive because it increases or revives our health capital. The outgoing movement is negative because it decreases our health capital. All of this remains on a question of perspective. The veil that separates the proto-world from the world of shadows functions like a mirror.

This veil creates the same kind of reversal for yin and yang. The reflection of the Yang manifests as positive in the shadow world, while the reflection of the Yin manifests as negative. This reversal results from the change of perspective. The point of view of the proto-world is internal while the point of view of the world of shadows is external.

In the proto-world, Yin is the vital positive force, while Yang is the vital negative force. After having crossed the veil, when the Yang energy is projected into the world of shadows, it manifests itself for example in the form of daylight, while the darkness of the night is a projection into the world of shadows of the life-giving energy of Yin. In the shadow world, we perceive the day as positive and the night as negative. But think for a moment: at the end of the day we have lost most of our energy (due to the perishable nature of the Yang). Fortunately, after a good night's sleep (during the activity period of Yin), our vital energy is restored.

The shape of the Yin is a triangle pointing downwards which corresponds to the concept of entry, reception inward and the image of a chalice or a Grail, of a uterus. The Yang form is an upward-pointing triangle which corresponds to the concept of exit, emission towards the outside and the image of a blade, a phallus.

The concepts of space and time belong only to the world of shadows. in Sanskrit, We are talking about Maya or illusion to mean that nothing in the world of shadows exists in itself, but that everything is a holographic projection of the proto-world.

The spiral movements of Yin and Yang form the 4 phases of the circulatory dynamics of a rotating torus which is the energetic essence of each 3D phenomenon. The internal centrifugal phase which spirals from the center downwards, the external centrifugal phase which spirals from the bottom towards the external horizontal axis, the external centripetal phase which spirals upwards and the internal centripetal phase which spirals from top to the center.

The two phase symbol Yin is a downward pointing triangle. The symbol of two phases of Yang is an upward pointing triangle. The symbols of the two internal phases have a horizontal internal line.

We can easily match each of these four symbols with the corresponding phase in the torus.

In order to explain the differences between these four types of proto-energies, scientists in ancient Greece used two dimensions: humidity and temperature. The four energetic phases of the proto-world are wet and hot (air), hot and dry (fire), dry and cold (earth) and cold and wet (water). The four true distinguishing qualities of the four proto-forces are: internal / external and outgoing / incoming.

When the spiral movement of the projected proto-energies passes through the zero point located in the center, it very briefly comes into direct contact with the world of Source. This occurs between the Earth and Air phases. This also occurs when the projected proto-energies pass through the line of the horizontal central circle surrounding the middle of the torus. This occurs between the Water and Fire phases. As the proto-world has only two dimensions, we can represent on a diagram this very brief contact with the Source world which corresponds to the moment when our sinusoidal crosses the horizontal axis, it is the contact with the quintessence (from Latin Quinta Essentia, the fifth essence) or ether. After (1) Air, (2) Water, (3) Fire and (4) Earth, Ether is the fifth of these essences.

Ether is actually first because it contains information from the source world. Ether is neither Yin nor Yang (or both at the same time). Each of the five essences projects its own perfect form into the three-dimensional reality of the world of shadows.

We perceive the world of shadows with our five senses and each sense corresponds to one of the five essences. The "highest" meaning is not vision, it is hearing, which is ether.

The 5 phases of Wu Xing 五行

In the world above, beyond the veil, there are five energetic essences (Ether, Fire, Water, Air and Earth). In the world below, our physical reality from the shadow world, there are five energetic elements or movements. The names of these five movements are wood, fire, earth, metal, water.

The projection into the world of shadows of the transition from fire to air results in the fire movement. The projection into the world of shadows of the transition from water to Earth results in the movement of water. The projection into the world of shadows of the transition from Earth to Air results in the wood movement. The projection into the world of shadows of the transition from air to earth results in metal movement. The fifth essence, Ether, projects directly into the earth movement.

The dividing line between the shadow world and the proto-world is called the veil, while the dividing line between the proto-world and the source world is the zero point, the singularities from which existence emanates.
