The blind guided by beacons in London

[ad_1]

The London Underground is an ideal place to Review all kinds of smart health connected objects. After Barclays which released a smart health connected bracelet capable of serving as a Navigo Pass, it is now a new initiative which is launched by Wayfindr and the Royal London Society for Blind People. The idea is to make it easier for the blind to navigate the London Underground using a Bluetooth beacon system.

Currently being tested at Pimlico station, the 16 beacons will be able to locate smartphones for the blind. Cross-checking the information captured by each of them, they will be able to give precise audio advice to the blind to facilitate their movement (a helmet will be provided).

This initiative goes in the right direction, unfortunately it may have its limits when you know the crowds of the London underground …
