Unboxing of the Pulse HR

The Pulse HR smart health connected bracelet is supplied in a rather simple square white box. We can already see that this product is compatible with Android and iOS.

From the packaging we know the features of this accessory. Thanks to the different small logos, we know that she calculates the heart rate, that it proposes sport sessions, that she sends message notifications and that she has a GPS. As stated on this box, this is a Fitness Tracker, that is, a smart health connected activity bracelet. Then on the side we learn a little more, the Pulse does not have a GPS strictly speaking, but a GPS tracking via smartphone and that in addition to all its features Pulse follows your sleep cycles.

On the back of the box is a short presentation of the object, its different features and how to use it. At the opening of this first box we discover a second package, white too, but much more sober. In the center throne the name of the brand: Withings. Once the Russian dolls are finished, we finally discover the much desired object, the Pulse HR bracelet. It is presented very soberly on a white background, the bracelet is attached by the back and we can, for the moment, distinguish only the front of the watch.

Once the white display stand raised we discover the entire black silicone bracelet. We notice immediately that the loop that serves to close it to change, it has here a more stylized finish, silver metal.

But the display is not only used to keep the bracelet smart health connected, lower left there is a small opening on which is drawn the USB logo. And indeed, by opening it we discover the power cable wrapped in a small transparent plastic bag.

This is a USB magnetic power cable, just plug it into a power source and put the bracelet on the charger (as shown in the picture below). The loading is made by contact between the case of the watch and the charger.

Under the white display is the installation guide. Very simple as the use of his bracelet. This guide tells you how to install the Health Mate application, how to select the different features from the bracelet and how to track its data from its application. Finally the manual shows how to customize your screen and how to load your bracelet.

Design and ergonomics of the Pulse HR

Just like the Steel HR Sport the Pulse HR smart health connected wristband is designed for athletes, those who want to talk, know more about their body and what happens during a physical activity. It is because he will often face sometimes difficult conditions that the "best materials have been used", according to Withings. Composed of a stainless steel case, and covered with a reinforced polycarbonate surface, Pulse is cut to resist everything without weighing down or handicapping you during your sports sessions. Indeed, it is very light and thin, it weighs only 45 grams. His design is sober and that's fine, no need for frills.

Black, dressed in a thin chrome band, it can be as well suited to a man as a woman. It's in its design that we understand Withings's desire to offer a smart health connected bracelet and not a watch. It's on a small screen 1.8 x 4.4 cm that you will be able to see perfectly:

  • Time

  • Your heart rate

  • Start a sport session

  • See the number of not walked in the day

  • The number of calories burned

  • The hassilent tears (vibrator)

  • Notification (messages, mails, calls)

The housing houses on the back the heart rate monitor, who will be in direct contact with your skin.

Personalized follow-up

To get the most out of your workouts, first visit the Health Mate app. Start by going in "Your devices" then on "Customization of training"Here you will be able to choose which sports will appear on your smart health connected bracelet as well as their order of appearance.

But that's not all, we must also be able to challenge yourself, goals, for that in your newspaper, at the top right is a small acronym "+". This is where you can choose "Activity", select your sport (hike, bike, rower, fitness …) then determine the duration of the training, the start time, the distance to travel. To activate the sport mode, just hold down the side button of the smart health connected bracelet. The various sports available are then displayed. Thanks to all this data, you will be able to know more about your sport session, how to improve and how to optimize your way of moving.

Health Mate: A simple and practical application

The Health Mate app is far from complicated, very intuitive and well designed, the grip is fast. Five tabs appear at the bottom of the screen: Newspaper, Dashboard, Programs, Devices and Profile. Without even opening them, we quickly understand what it is. On the Diary we can see what we did during the day (not, sports sessions, sleep), but also what we realized the previous days. This gives us a good overview.

For each data we have the possibility to have many explanations. For the steps of the day for example, by clicking on it you will be able to access the distance traveled, but also to help: activity recommendations, achievable goals. All this makes the application much more concrete and if you are not very sporty, it helps a lot. Your dashboard is your current state: weight, fat, average heart rate, in short your general condition. It's a good way to not lose sight of your goals.

Then there is five programs in total : toning your body, sleep ritual, stress assessment, grading and my pregnancy guide. Each of these programs is accompanied by a short description, the Withings products recommended to do so (usually a scale) and the duration of these programs. You can start them at any time and they give good advice.

In Devices you will not only find your smart health connected bracelet, but all your Withings smart health connected devices. All are in synergy and allow you to be at the top of your form : tensiometer, balance, thermometer, you can even have access to the shop from this tab. Finally, your profile shows you your records, goals and reminder.

The Pulse HR smart health connected bracelet against the competition

There is a lot of competition on this type of product. The bracelets smart health connected have the coast right now just like smart health connected watches, which are often compared. They all offer pretty much the same features. The application and the price often make all the difference.

Incomparable price level, the smart health connected bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band 3 offers a excellent monitoring of activities and sleep, with an integrated heart rate scanner. Very good autonomy, it offers various information such as time, date, weather and important notifications. It is compatible on Android and iPhone. And for that price, it's almost given.

As always FitBit makes us want to do sports is also and especially high performance. Long-lasting battery, heart rate, monitoring of physical activities or sleep cycle, it is complete and serves as a sporting companion foolproof. You can even customize the screen with your fingertips. Hard to beat.

Honor Band 3: the good value for money

This activity tracker is a good compromise, a reasonable price, sober design, a good follow of sports activities. However, he stammers a little, it does not offer as much sport as the Pulse HR and is available in English only, so difficult for non-bilinguals.

Sony SmartBand 2: the smart health connected bracelet to measure its stress

This is Sony's third smart health connected bracelet and yet there is still work to do, a screen too small, an ergonomics perfectible, an inconvenient bracelet. Yet there are beautiful promises, un heart rate monitor that allows us to analyze our level of stress and our heart rate in a very effective way is very appreciated.

Conclusion
