The little Prince undeniably marked our childhood and it is by re-reading this masterpiece, once an adult, that we measure the symbolic significance of the work. With simple words, children’s words, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry asks essential questions about life, relationships with others, love and the ties that unite us. The universality of the subject is at the origin of the immense success of the work, initially intended for children: sold more than two million copies in the world and translated into the languages of all the continents, even regional dialects, it is a real educational support with a humanist scope.
For the first time on French territory, an exhibition is dedicated to this young hero of literature. Spectators will be able to admire the original manuscript of the first publication in the United States ever presented in France!
This major event is the perfect opportunity to get to know Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, poet and aviation enthusiast, better through drawings, articles and photographs. His plane flights, and in particular his accident in the Sahara desert in December 1935 where he wandered for several days, were sources of creativity for The little Prince. It was also by drawing inspiration from his wife Consuelo that he created the character of the Rose.
A multi-talented artist, he illustrated his poetic story with superb watercolors that can be seen along the way. Their refined simplicity and bright colors take the reader back to childhood: a simple world full of questions and the search for truth. Even if it is a “serious” work, the exhibition is aimed at everyone, regardless of age, and will touch our deepest sensibility.
Cultural outings in small groups will soon be scheduled. Talivera.com
