the Finn unveils his Android Wear sports watch!
[ad_1]
Comfortably installed on the sport activity tracker market since 2007, Polar is today presenting the M600, its very first Android Wear smart health connected watch. A quality sports smartwatch that prioritizes functionality over design and elegance.
For its first smart health connected watch in Android Wear, Polar has decided to compete head-on with the Moto 360 Sport and the Sony SmartWatch 3. The device looks like a tocante intended for the most athletic, to support them in their performances.
A multi-sports watch
The M600 embarks its own optical heart rate sensor technology, based on a system of 6 LED lights for display on the wrist. The watch also has a GPS, and allows permanent monitoring of activity. When the user falls asleep, sleep monitoring is automatically activated.
There are also smart coaching features, and the famous Running Program, already offered on the Polar V800 of 2020, which remains a benchmark for runners. Like the Polar A360 bracelet, this watch is also IPX8 waterproof certified, and can therefore be used for swimming sessions. The 1.3-inch color touchscreen has a front button, allowing you to use the watch when your hands are too wet with water or sweat.
Unlike devices like the Microsoft Band 2 or the Samsung Gear Fit 2, the Polar M600 does not automatically detect the type of activity. User must manually choose the data to be collected according to the activity practiced. The objective is to promote the accuracy of the analyzes.
Design and autonomy
In terms of aesthetics, as usual, Polar favors functionality over design. The watch resembles the Polar A360, except for its screen. This is a 63 gram smartwatch, of which the silicone bracelet will initially be offered in black or white, while a red version will be available later this year.
The 500mAh battery guarantees autonomy of more than 48 hours. It's a little more than most Android Wear watches currently on the market.
Features added by Android Wear
The adoption of the operating system of Google Android Wear brings its share of advantages. We find of course voice control, notifications, and the ability to customize watch faces. The 4GB of internal memory allows you to synchronize apps and music from Google Play so you can listen to music while training, without having to use your smartphone.
The M600 embarks the Polar fitness app, which synchronizes with Polar Flow and with the different training programs Finnish. This app replaces Google Fit, and can be opened directly with a press of the front button.
Price and availability
Note that it will be possible to pair this device with an Apple phone. However, as with other Android Wear watches, there will be fewer features than with an Android smartphone. Polar M600 to be sold worldwide a little later this year for € 349.90. The update to Android 2.0 is planned for this fall.
Are you tempted by this device?
