The first smart health connected ski will soon hit the slopes

This is not the first time that we have talked about smart health connected skiing. But until then, we were only referring to sport and itself. Skiing became smart health connected thanks to clothing to fight against the cold, glasses or even smart health connected watches. The urge to bring a little high-tech with us on the powder is so strong that we have already been able to offer you a top 10 essential accessories. The Piq and Rossignol companies have decided to move up a gear by offering the first smart health connected ski. We explain all the details to you.
Improved Hero Master skis
It’s still a prototype but it should make many skiers dream. While in most sports there are already sensors designed to improve performance, skiing was, until a little, among those left behind. There were of course accessories with the shovel but the professionals could feel left out. This will soon no longer be the case thanks to the first smart health connected ski from Piq and Rossignol.
Unveiled at ISPO 2020 (the international trade fair for sport and business), this project is based on the iconic Héro Master model, from the French ski brand Rossignol. Inside, Piq has integrated its sensor PIQ ROBOT. This one will be able to measure several elements like the speed of the skier, his angulation in the turns, his " Explosive " in edge-to-edge transitions, as well as the force experienced in turns. An LED screen integrated directly into the spatula will allow skiers to have real-time data without having to consult their smartphone.
Everything is made possible thanks in Gaia. It is the first Artificial Intelligence system for the autonomous understanding of sporting gestures with motion-capture algorithms. "We have always wanted to integrate PIQ directly into the athlete's equipment to give him the best possible experience. Thanks to the work of our teams, we are proud to present this year at ISPO the first smart health connected and intelligent ski. It's a world first " underlines Cédric Mangaud, CEO of PIQ Sport Intelligence.
No release date for the first smart health connected ski
This smart health connected ski is of course primarily intended for professionals or experienced skiers who want to improve their technique. If you are not yet at this stage or if you want to learn to ski, we advise you to opt for Carv. This wearable technology is intended to teach you how to ski. Thanks to different sensors, this tracker installed in your shoe acts like a real coach. A very interesting alternative to take your first steps on the powder.
Piq and Rossignol's first smart health connected ski should soon see the light of day but probably not in time for the winter holidays of 2020. No launch date or marketing price has yet been announced. See you next year on the slopes?
