Luxury brand Montblanc has unveiled the Summit 2 Plus, a Wear OS smart health connected watch with eSIM for more independence and versatility.

Unveiled at the last CES in Las Vegas, this is the first smartwatch running on Google’s OS to embed this technology. But the device also attracts by its refined design which has nothing to envy to Montblanc designer jewelry.

The Montblanc Summit 2 Plus is an attractive smartwatch

At the outset, it must be said that the device is beautiful, especially the curved glass sapphire crystal which covers its dial and the 43.5 mm case in steel. Aesthetically, it retains the same elegant lines as its predecessor, the Summit 2, as well as the dial inspired by the brand's classic watches. We can also choose between a steel, rose gold, black or bronze finish.

However, the Plus adds a few millimeters to its size compared to the model released in 2018. And if the Montblanc Summit 2 Plus offers the same basic features as other Wear OS watches, it is distinguished by its elegance and of materials premium.

An eSIM, but a deja vu effect…

As a reminder, on a smart health connected watch, eSIM duplicates the number of your smartphone to receive or make phone calls. As this is a new feature for its OS, Google will update theWear OS app to take care of it. There is no doubt that other watches will follow and offer this technology.

In terms of technical characteristics, the Montblanc Summit 2 Plus does not differ much from the 2018 version. Thus, there is a Snapdragon 3100 processor, a 440 mAh battery, 22 mm straps and a 1.28 inch AMOLED screen. Among the already-seen, we can also cite the altimeter, the compass, the barometer, the GPS and the heart rate monitoring.

But the new model adds a Timeshifter app to help counter a jet lag. Having collaborated with the Finnish Firstbeat, Montblanc has also improved the monitoring of heart rate and fitness functions. In addition, a loud speaker now handles telephone conversations. On the other hand, the sealing goes to IPX8. It’s a good score, but not as good as the old Summit 2’s 5ATM.

The Montblanc Summit 2 Plus will be available at Orange from April at a price of € 1,170. We can only hope that more affordable Wear OS smart health connected watches will soon offer an eSIM.
