The Galaxy Watch 2 should soon hit the market!

A new Samsung smartwatch seems to be on the way and it could be the Galaxy Watch 2.

The first clue that a Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 is officially in the works is a new leak providing the model number of a new wearable.

Galaxy Watch 2 expected to hit the market soon

According to a GalaxyClub report, the Korean giant has a new device under development with a model number of SM-R840. The first Samsung Galaxy Watch was wearing the model number of SM-R800 before it launched in 2018. So it looks like the device in question may be related to the Galaxy Watch in some way.

In addition, other model numbers have appeared for the Galaxy Watch Active line. We found a similar leak before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2. It detailed the model numbers SM-R820, SM-R825, SM-R830 and SM-R835.

However, these Active dp numbers also slightly confuse things. Indeed, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 might not necessarily be the successor to the Galaxy Watch. She could be a whole new model.

Another thing we didn't get from this leak is the other model numbers. This is typical of an upcoming device that includes different models for LTE editions and different sizes. That doesn't mean they don't exist, of course, but they just aren't in this leak.

The only other concrete information we have to communicate is the size of the battery, which is indicated at 330mAh. To put that into perspective, the 42mm Galaxy watch was equipped with a 270mAh unit. Finally, the 46mm model had a larger 472mAh battery.

Other than that, the rest is just speculation, including when we might see both an announcement and a release date for the new Samsung wearable.

A potential date for presentation could be February 11 at the Galaxy S11 event in San Francisco. Samsung is used to launching a new watch alongside smartphones. And, if it doesn't, it could also take advantage of the Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona in late February to do so.
