The iSetWatch invites itself into the match!

France again failed in the Davis Cup final this year, but it is certainly not the fault of our tricolor equipment manufacturers. After Babolat’s smart health connected racket ‘Play Pure Drive’ presented at CES 2014 and which was a resounding success, it’s now the turn of a French start-up to exhibit at CES 2015 its tennis solution called iSetWatch.

As its name suggests, the iSetWatch is a somewhat special smart health connected watch since it is mainly intended for tennis. With an even more sporty and simplistic design than the Sony SmartWatch 3, we can unfortunately hardly imagine wearing it every day. And the 6 colors that will be offered do not change anything.

An advanced point counter, but not a referee!

The idea behind the iSetWatch is to help players count and record their scores during the match. Rather than tangling the pencils to memorize the score at each point, the iSetWatch is a slightly improved wrist counter. Their official website presents them as an e-referee (or not). It won't tell you if the ball was out or not, it will just keep you posted on the scores. Moreover, you will have to return them yourself at the end of each exchange, which is not without distracting the players …

In addition, when you know that he usually has a referee in the vast majority of official competitions – including at the most amateur level – the use is a bit restrictive. Anyway, I will keep it more like the gadget for the Sunday afternoon tennis game.

Be careful, you should not be too reductive, because the iSetWatch still has some interesting arguments. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.0, the watch can be smart health connected to the iOS / Android smartphone of one or both players, who can then decide to automatically share the match score with those around them in real time. I agree, it’s quite practical – especially when you’re a parent, you don’t attend your kids’s games, and you get them back in tears (or a bright smile). Experience… ? Another advantage is being able to analyze its performance over the long term, such as the number of points earned on its services, its effectiveness in tie-breaks, etc. But again, you will have to be really diligent in Sunday matches.

Before you can shout ‘GAME, SET AND WATCH!’ pay 129 € for its release, next April. In the meantime, you can consult our guide to smart health connected objects for tennis.
