Allergy Amulet is a jewel that will probe food and alert you if allergens are present.

1 French in 3 is suffering from an allergy. To make life easier for those affected, there will be a smart health smart health connected object, the Allergy Amulet. She will sound the food on your plate to discover the molecular composition. This first truly portable detection device is being launched with an expected release date for 2018. The idea comes from Abigail Barnes, a graduate of Yale University, and Joseph Belbruno, professor of chemistry at the University of Dartmouth, both with allergies.

This device consists of two parts. The first is a detection patch which can hide in compatible accessories like a bracelet, a necklace, a smartphone shell or a smartwatch.

The second part is a alert scanner which will fit with the detection patch. It will detect the collected data and alert the patient via a vibrator and an LED in case of presence of allergens.

That peanut for the moment

For now, the Allergy Amulet does not detect that peanut, the most common allergy in the United States. Its technology is very sensitive to this molecule and the beta Review phase should begin soon. The device was selected by the Boston-based MassChallenge Incubator and is designed in partnership with a team of researchers specializing in allergies at Stanford University.

It's a pity, unlike the detector, the scanner is not hidden in all compatible objects. As for the patch, it is not reusable. It will therefore be necessary to use a new one at each meal. However, the Allergy Amulet stands out thanks to its ultraportable style and its specialization in helping people with allergies.
