the MyEndoApp endometriosis screening app to conquer the United States

Several French start-ups in the world of health were present from January 7 to 10 at CES 2020 in order to benefit from the visibility of the event, find partners and potential investors to ensure the development of their innovations.

This is the case of MyEndoApp, young shoot co-founded by Jean-Philippe Estrade, gynecologist-obstetrician in Marseille, Pr Charles Chapron, gynecologist-obstetrician at Cochin hospital (AP-HP), Raymond Auphan, mining engineer and entrepreneur and Benjamin Richier, specialist in communication and entrepreneur.

After three years of research, the four partners launched their application on June 15, 2019 in order to better diagnose and treat endometriosis.

"Endometriosis affects 12% of women of childbearing age. It is a complicated disease that is poorly detected today," Dr Estrade told TICsanté. "It can take 10 years between the evocation of the first symptoms by a patient and the establishment of a diagnosis. These are the delays that we want to reduce."

For this, MyEndoApp offers a screening Review (MyEndoApp Préditest) in the form of a questionnaire available from the application.

The patient obtains a result which informs him of the risk of endometriosis according to the symptoms described and is offered several guidelines on medical management.

Concretely, the application works thanks to "an algorithm tested on 2,500 patients and 88% reliable," said Jean-Philippe Estrade. "It indicates whether the women who responded to the questionnaire have a low, intermediate, high or very high risk of having endometriosis."

Imaging results, operating reports, biological assessments can also be archived via a secure health data hosting service (HDS) provided by GMI Expert, and this information can be shared with a health professional in order to '' ensure more rigorous monitoring and "facilitate communication between patients and doctors".

MyEndoApp also allows you to schedule your appointments and synchronize them with your mobile calendar, set up alerts, and take notes.

In addition, the participants in the MyEndoApp project enrich a collection of secure and anonymized data, the analysis of which must contribute to "advancing clinical research" on endometriosis.

An economic model under construction

Downloadable from Google Play (Android) and the AppStore (Apple), the application costs € 9.99 for each patient who wishes to take the Review and save it.

"Free apps are good, but generally they are not worth much," said Dr. Estrade. "Our application is perfectly functional today but not yet complete, in the long term, we would like to develop other algorithms to allow patients to better situate themselves again."

For this, the start-up, which wants to "stay independent", is looking for industrial partners and funding in Las Vegas, where it went with the South region.

"Our economic model is being built, the world of digital therapies is still inventing itself", underlined the Marseille practitioner.

Until then, the start-up was financed by equity for an undisclosed amount. She hopes that the American event will allow her to raise international funds and accelerate its developments. "The CES is a first for us, we are doing scientific fairs but here we are leaving our comfort zone to Review this ground."

MyEndoApp has already been downloaded "more than 10,000 times since its launch" and it is already being deployed in "50 pharmacies in the South region", counted Jean-Philippe Estrade.
