smart health connected health is gaining ground among the population, so much so that the National Order of Physicians now recommends the reimbursement of smart health connected objects whose health benefits are recognized.
smart health connected health continues to gain ground around the world. GfK even considers it to be one of the Wearables' main growth drivers in 2015. The global volume of mobile applications dedicated to health increased from 6,000 to 100,000 between 2010 and 2013 and there are now billions of smart health connected objects worldwide (50 billion by 2020). In France, it should sell 2 billion smart accessories by 2020. For example, it has passed 640,000 units of smart watches and bracelets in 2014 (GfK).
In his white paper entitled " smart health connected health, from e-health to smart health connected health " presented yesterday, National Council of the Order of Physicians (CNOM) proposes a series of recommendations including a “Adapted, graduated and European regulation” of processing of data from smart health connected objects and mobile apps health related. The CNOM wants a declaration of conformity who would ensure confidentiality and the protection of the data collected, as suggested the American FTC in the United States, ensuring IT security, software and material and health safety of devices placed on the market in smart health connected health. In addition, the National Council of the Order of Physicians offers a vigilance system who would facilitate the reporting of malfunctions.
In the same concern for transparency, the National Council of the Order of Physicians considers that a scientific evaluation of neutral experts, that is to say "Unrelated to suppliers", must apply specifically to solutions tele-medicine in order to validate and recognize their public utility in matters of health preservation.
To go further and if this postulate is respected, the CNOM would welcome the reimbursement of smart health connected objects by Social Security :
"Once the evaluation of smart health connected applications and objects has effectively recognized their benefits for individual and / or collective health, it would be coherent to envisage that they be taken care of by the community"
The National Council of the Order also expresses the wish to reach, with all the stakeholders, the definition ofa framework for the good use of mobile health, in consultation with the High Authority for Health (HAS), to support and strengthen the patient-doctor relationship using smart health connected objects.
